How Many Hospitals in New York State?
There are 261 active hospitals in the Empire State according to the most recent edition of the American Hospital Directory. Six4,515 beds are spread across 210 hospitals, 210 of which are staffed. Of all the major cities, New York City has the most hospitals. The Healthcare Reform Act of New York State applies to 165 general hospitals, according to the state's Health Department's list. 51 hospitals combined with other establishments, while 63 hospitals closed.
With its founding in 1736, Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan is not only the oldest hospital in the United States but also the oldest in the state of New York. With 2,678 beds, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan is the hospital with the most staff members.
