Here is a list of important days around the world in June:
June 1 - International Children’s Day
International Children’s Day holiday has been established in the 1920s – 1930s in Europe at the Geneva conference and has been celebrated annually since then on June 1st. This holiday date has overlapped later with the International Day for Protection of Children started by the Women’s Congress in France.
The consequences of World War II were highly evident at that point: millions of people lost their lives, the economies of thousands of cities collapsed, crowds of hungry children ended up running around on the streets… At this critical moment, in November 1949, an assembly of the Women’s International Democratic Federation was held in Paris, where a proposition was put forth to establish a new holiday. Without further ado, the new holiday has been created, and in June 1950, Children’s Day was already celebrated in 51 countries!
June 1 – World Milk Day
World Milk Day is observed globally on 1st June every year to celebrate the important contributions of the dairy sector to sustainability, economic development, livelihoods and nutrition.
Today's the day to enjoy a cold glass of milk. June 2 - International Sex Workers Day
This day is celebrated on 2nd June not only in Europe but around the world. International Sex Workers Day is observed on 2nd June because on 2 June, 1975 approximately 100 sex workers occupied at Sant-Nizier Church in Lyon, France, to express anger about their exploitative living conditions and work culture. The Church was brutally raided by the police forces on 10 June. This action becomes a national movement and so, now celebrated in Europe and worldwide.
June 2 - Italy: Republic Day
Always celebrated on June 2nd. This is Italy's National Day.
Republic Day (Italian: Festa della Repubblica) marks the referendum of 1946, which resulted in the creation of the Italian republic.
June 3 - World Bicycle Day
The United Nations General Assembly declared 3rd June as international World Bicycle Day to recognise the uniqueness, longevity and versatility of the bicycle, which are affordable, environmentally friendly fit sustainable means of transportation.

Abolition Day is a public holiday in French Guiana, observed on June 10th.
This date marks the ending of slavery in this South American French territory in 1848.
June 11 - International Corpus Christi
The Feast of Corpus Christi ("Fronleichnam" in German) is a Catholic festival celebrated on the second Thursday after Whitsun.
Corpus Christi means the Body of Christ and refers to the elements of the Eucharist also called the Holy Communion, Last Supper or Lord's Supper.
In the Church of England, this day is called 'Day of Thanksgiving for the Institution of Holy Communion'.
June 12: World day against Child Labour
Every year on 12 June World Day Against Child Labour is observed to focus attention on the global extent of child labour and the action and efforts needed to eliminate it. International Labour Organization (ILO) launched the World Day Against Child Labour in 2002. This day brings together governments, employers and workers organizations, civil society, as well as millions of people from around the world to highlight the plight of child labourers and what can be done to help them.

June 15- World Elder Abuse Awareness Day
This day is celebrated every year on 15 June to raise voice for caring elders. Elder abuse is a global social issue which affects the Health and Human Rights of millions of older persons around the world. This day was officially recognised by the United Nations General Assembly and request with the world to prevent elder abuse.
June 16- South Africa: Youth Day
Youth Day is a national holiday in South Africa celebrated on June 16th. If Youth Day falls on a Sunday, a public holiday will be observed on the following Monday.
Previously known as Soweto Day, Youth Day marks the start of the Soweto riots on this day in 1976.
June 17: World day to combat desertification and drought
Every year on 17th June World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought reminds people in the world that land degradation neutrality can be achieved when there will be cooperation at all levels, strong involvement of the community and problem-solving. June 19- World Sauntering Day
This day is observed annually to make people remind to slow down and enjoy life as possible instead of rushing always. This day also reminds us to take easy, take time to smell roses, take time to see nature that it is so beautiful, look at the sky and enjoy life.
June 20: World Refugee day
World Refugee Day: This day honours and pays respect to the courage, strength and determination of women, men and children who are forced to leave their country under threat of persecution, conflict and violence. It is observed recognize the contributions of refugees. The United Nations and over 100 countries have observed World Refugee Day annually.
June 21: World Music day
The World Music Day is celebrated every year on June 21 in over 120 countries including its country of origin France where it is known as ‘Fête de la Musique’ meaning “festival of music” to honour both amateur and professional musicians. The first Fête de la Musique was held on the streets of Paris and became a huge success within a few years.
June 21: International Yoga Day
The Internationa Yoga Day is celebrated every year on June 21. The motto behind celebrating International Yoga Day is to spread awareness among people about the benefits of Yoga. The asanas in Yoga were designed by the Indian ancient experts in such a way that they are highly beneficial for different health issues.
June 21- World Hydrography Day
World Hydrography Day is observed on 21 June every year to increase public awareness about hydrography science. Every year the International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) and its international members celebrate this day. 2019 theme is 'hydrographic information driving marine knowledge'.
June 22- Sacred Heart in Colombia
In Colombia this national holiday always falls on a Monday is celebrated ten weeks and a day after Easter Sunday.
The full title of the holiday is 'The Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus'. In Spanish, it is known as 'El Sagrado Corazón de Jesús'.
In the calendar of the Roman Catholic Church it is a feast day 19 days after Pentecost and the second Friday after Corpus Christi. Like other holidays in Colombia that are based on a Catholic event, the holiday is celebrated on the Monday after the actual date.

June 23- International Widow's Day
International Widows Day (international) is observed on 23 June annually to raise awareness globally about the violation of human rights that widows suffer and faces in several countries following the death of their spouses.
June 24- Mongolia Election Day
A public holiday to allow citizens to vote in the elections taking place in Mongolia.
Mongolia is a semi-presidential representative democratic republic with a directly elected President.
Mongolia uses a unicameral legislature, The State Great Khural, with 76 seats, which is chaired by the Speaker of the House. Its members are directly elected, every four years, by popular vote.
The president appoints the prime minister and nominates the cabinet on the proposal of the prime minister. Mongolia has a number of political parties; the largest are the Mongolian People's Party and the Democratic Party.
June 26- International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
This day was observed on 26 June every year to make people aware of the harmful effects of drugs and to determine a society free of drug abuse. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly to strengthen global action and cooperation.
June 26- International Day in Support of Victims of Torture
The UN General Assembly proclaimed 26 June as International Day in Support of Victims of Torture on 12 December, 1997 to eradicate torture and the effective functioning of the Convention against Torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
June 27- National Unity Day in Tajikistan
The Day of National Unity is a national holiday in Tajikistan, observed on June 27th each year. If June 27th falls on a weekend, a public holiday will be observed on the following Monday.
National Unity Day commemorates the signing of the national peace accord in 1997 which ended the civil war.
June 28- International Saint Peter and Saint Paul
This feast day is celebrated on June 29th. The day commemorates the martyrdom of two saints, the two great Apostles, Saint Peter and St. Paul, assigned by tradition to the same day of June in the year 67.
The day taken in Chile may change depending on if it falls on a weekend.
In Colombia, like other religious holidays, the holiday is observed on the Monday after the date.
June 29- Independence Day in DR Congo
Independence Day is a public holiday in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo), observed on June 30th each year.
This day is the National Day of DR Congo and marks independence from Belgium in June 1960.
June 30- World Asteroid Day
Asteroid Day is an event observed on 30 June to provide online education about the asteroid. This event is held on the anniversary of the Siberian Tunguska event that took place on 30 June, 1908. It is a most harmful known asteroid related event on Earth in recent history. The United Nations passed a resolution for celebrating 30 June as Asteroid Day.

Nemi Strawberry Festival, June 2
Nemi, a sprawling lakeside town in the Castelli Romani region south of Rome, is famous for its strawberries and locals celebrate this juicy refreshing emblem of summer the first Sunday of June. Visit the town, and you can try the strawberries many ways: in their purest form, as a granita, in pastries and more.
Meadows in the Mountains, Bulgaria, June 6-9
This dance music festival takes place in the idyllic Rhodope Mountains, a five-hour drive from Sofia. There are also offers wonderful options on the literature and wellness fronts. Plovdiv is the closest airport so this could be a great time to admire one of the 2019 European Capitals of Culture.
Summer Solstice, Northern Hemisphere, June 21

24 June: Inti Raymi Festival, Cusco, Peru
Inti Raymi was and is a traditional Inca religious festival, a way to worship the sun god, Inti. Not only did the date, slap-bang in the middle of June, mark the end of winter, but also the winter solstice: the beginning of the days getting brighter and longer again.
During the reign of the Inca Empire in Cusco, it was undoubtedly their biggest and most significant religious celebration. Hundreds of years later, indigenous communities living in Cusco and throughout the Andes still celebrate Inti Raymi with music and colourful costumes. Cusco also hosts a theatrical performance – or re-enactment – of an Inca Inti Raymi celebration, which welcomes travellers.
San Vino Wine Fight Festival, Haro, Spain, June 29
Rooted in a centuries-old (now settled) land dispute, La Batalla del Vino de Haro entails water-gun-armed locals and a handful of non-locals climbing a mountain to squirt each other with Rioja wine. The party then moves down to the town’s cobbled streets, resulting in a weekend of rollicking merrymaking.
28 to 30 June: Haro Wine Festival, Spain
Batalla de Vino, a.k.a. Wine Battle, is as sticky as it sounds. The residents of the La Rioja town of Haro get together around the day of their patron saint, Saint Pedro, to pelt each other with wine.
The dress code is simple: wear a white t-shirt that you fully expect to become grape-purple by the end of battle. Following mass led by the town's mayor, fill up your water pistols and buckets with La Rioja red, and prepare to get sprayin', according to wanderlust.
