Russia’s Russian Foreign Ministry condemned what it described as an “act of armed aggression” by the United States against Venezuela. In a strongly worded statement, Moscow rejected any justification for the strikes as “untenable” and reaffirmed its solidarity with the Venezuelan government.

“We reaffirm our support for the Bolivarian leadership’s course of action aimed at protecting Venezuela’s sovereignty and national interests,” the ministry said, stressing that Latin America must remain a zone of peace. Russian officials urged all sides to prevent further escalation and resolve the crisis through dialogue rather than force.

The ministry also confirmed that the Russian Embassy in Caracas remains operational and that there were no reports of Russian citizens harmed following the U.S. strikes.

China echoed Moscow’s concerns. The Chinese Foreign Ministry warned the United States against unilateral military action, calling on Washington to respect Venezuela’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Chinese officials emphasized that external interference would only worsen instability in the region and undermine international law.

According to regional media reports, Beijing urged restraint from all parties and reiterated its long-standing position that Venezuela’s political future should be determined by Venezuelans themselves, without coercion or military pressure from abroad.

Other countries have taken more cautious positions. Several Latin American governments called for calm and verification of claims surrounding Maduro’s reported capture, while European officials urged transparency and adherence to international norms. So far, no major international body has independently confirmed Maduro’s status.

Analysts say the coordinated warnings from Russia and China underscore how Venezuela has once again become a geopolitical flashpoint, raising the risk of a wider confrontation between the United States and rival global powers.

With military deployments ongoing inside Venezuela and diplomatic tensions rising, international pressure is mounting to prevent further escalation and steer the crisis toward dialogue rather than conflict.
