Oscars 2021: Schedule, Nominations, Winners, How To Watch
Oscars. Photo: thestate |
Through time, the Oscars have given us some of the biggest pop culture moments in history.
The wrong 'Best Film' winner drama of 2017, for instance. Jennifer Lawrence tripping up on stage to collect her Best Actress gong, Michael Moore's anti-President Bush speech in 2003 and plenty of memorable dresses.
The 2020 Oscars saw the likes of Renée Zellweger, Laura Dern, Bong Joon Ho, Brad Pitt and Joaquin Phoenix win golden gongs for their roles in some of the most standout films of the year including Parasite and Judy.
Little did we know, however, that weeks later the world would be hit by the coronavirus pandemic and that it would put several awards ceremonies and events, such as the Cannes Film Festival and the Met Gala, on hold for the foreseeable.
When is the Oscars?
The 2021 Oscars take place on April 25, 2021. The show was previously scheduled for February 28, 2021, but forced to move because of the coronavirus pandemic. Coverage of the ceremony begins at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT and airs live on ABC.
How can I watch the announcement for the 2021 Oscars?
The Oscar nominations will be streamed live on the Oscars YouTube channel on Monday 15 March at 1.30 pm (UK time).
The 93rd Oscars® will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2021, and will be televised live on ABC and in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide, ABC wrote.
When will the nominations for the 2021 Oscars be announced?
The nominations for the 2021 Oscars are due to be announced on 15 March 2021.
Shortlists for nine Oscar categories were unveiled by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Ampas) in February, an intermediary stage in the awarding process.
These categories include Best International Film, Best Documentary and Best Song.
Nomination voting in these categories will take place between 5 and 10 March. This will be followed by the annual Oscars Nominees Luncheon on 15 April, when the final shortlist is set to be announced, according to Inews.
