‘Moxie’ Plot

Vivian (Hadley Robinson), a seemingly shy 16-year-old, has always preferred to keep her head down and fly under the radar. But when the arrival of a new student (Alycia Pascual-Peña) forces her to examine the unchecked behavior of her fellow students running rampant at her high school, Vivian realizes she’s fed up.

Inspired by her mother’s (Amy Poehler) rebellious past, Vivian anonymously publishes an underground zine called Moxie to expose bias and wrongdoing in her high school, and unexpectedly sparks a movement. Now at the center of a revolution, Vivian begins to forge new friendships with other young women and allies, reaching across the divide of cliques and clubs as they learn to navigate the highs and lows of high school together, according to Feelingthevibe.

The film stars several breakout stars including Josephine Langford (sister of Katherine Langford of 13 Reasons Why fame), Patrick Schwarzenegger, Robinson, Totah, Sydney Park, Lauren Tsai and many more.

Poehler directs and stars in the coming-of-age film and will soon co-host the Golden Globes with fellow comedian, director and writer Tina Fey. It’s believed the pair will host the programme virtually from opposite sides of the US, with Fey joining from New York City while Poehler will report from Los Angeles.

‘We just have a few final questions which is, When? How? Why? Where? … that's all we need to find out but we're gonna figure it out,’ Poehler joked during a recent interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, as reported by Elle.

Creator

Poehler is directing the on-screen adaptation of the novel of the same name by Jennifer Mathieu. Writing it for the screen is Tamara Chestna, while the project is being produced under Poehler's Paper Kite Productions banner, with Netflix holding distribution rights.

Moxie will be streaming online on the Netflix platform from March 3, 2021. Moxie is an upcoming comedy film that is focusing on the feminism revolution carried out by the daughter of the mother. Many times we too get ourselves in a situation where we think that we are not going to carry the burden of the past from our ancestors, the director of the film has tried to touch that gesture of the mind of a teen girl because in this age there are many things going out in the minds of a child, the world thinks you as a kid, but you don’t think yourself as so, and this utter confusion creates havoc and other issues.

The director Amy Poehler, who is also a part of the casting team of the film Moxie, seems to be excited about her upcoming new project. In the trailer that was recently been released by Netflix has a catchy dialogue where she says, “When I was 16, all I cared about was smashing the patriarchy and burning it all down”, basically it means breaking the stereotypes that the public has set for various people that keeps bounded and prevent one from crossing their extremes.
