When is MLB 2023 opening day?
Major League Baseball returns to action on Thursday, March 30, 2023, with all 30 teams in action. The 15-game slate will begin at 1:05 p.m. ET, providing fans with 12 hours of nonstop MLB action. The Opening Day schedule features a number of intriguing matchups.
That is when all 30 teams are scheduled to play on Opening Day, which will be the first time since 1968 that every MLB team begins the season on the same day.
How many games will each team play?
Each team's divisional opponents will be reduced from 76 to 52 in 2023, with each team playing 13 games against each other. Each team will play 64 intraleague games, down from 64, and 46 interleague games, up from 20, which will include series against certain teams' natural rivals (Yankees vs. Mets, Cubs vs. White Sox, Dodgers vs. Angels, etc.).

What are big changes of MLB 2023?

The 2023 MLB season will see the introduction of several rule changes, including larger bases, a pitch timer, and defensive shift restrictions.
Larger Bases: With the exception of home plate, all bases will now be 18 inches square. Prior to this modification, the bases were 15 inches square.
Pitchers will now have 15 seconds to throw a pitch if the bases are empty and 20 seconds if there is a runner on base. There will also be a 30-second timer between batters.
Defensive Shift: All four infielders are required to be on the infield with two on each side of second base at the time a pitch is thrown.

The era of pitch timers has arrived. MLB has implemented a 15-second clock with the bases empty and a 20-second clock with runners on, both of which are necessary. In recent years, games had become a major slog, owing primarily to batters repeatedly stepping out of the box and pitchers taking time to center themselves between pitches. The pitch timer improves the flow significantly.
This spring, Cactus League and Grapefruit League games have averaged 2:36 (two hours and 36 minutes). This is a decrease from 3:01 in the spring and 3:06 in the regular season. The 25-minute improvement from last spring is consistent with the 21-minute improvement in Triple-A last year with the pitch timer. There is less time between pitches now, and as a result, games are shorter.

What are the key MLB regular season dates after Opening Day?

On Saturday, April 15, a full slate of 15 games is planned for Jackie Robinson Day.
To commemorate Independence Day, all 30 MLB teams will be in action on July 4.
The 93rd All-Star Game will be held on Tuesday, July 11 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, with the All-Star break taking place from July 10 to 13.
On Roberto Clemente Day, September 15, all 30 Clubs will play.
The regular season is set to end on October 1.
How to stream MLB 2023 opening day
With so many major league teams, figuring out where and how to watch the games you want to watch can be difficult, especially for cord-cutters. Nationally televised games, for example, will air on Fox, FS1, TBS, ESPN, and MLB Network, while local team games will air on regional sports networks (RSNs).

To ensure you don't miss out on the action, the channel broadcasts on Wednesdays and Fridays when multiple games are taking place at the same time.
In total, the MLB regular season consists of 2,430 games.
Furthermore, Apple TV+ will be the exclusive home of "Friday Night Baseball" games for the second year in a row. Peacock also broadcasts live exclusive MLB games on Sunday mornings as part of its "MLB Sunday Leadoff" package.
Prime Video has announced a partnership with the YES Network to provide Prime members with access to 20 New York Yankees games. There will be no local blackouts, but Yankees games will only be available to members in New York, north and central New Jersey, Connecticut, and northeast Pennsylvania.
