'Kid 90' on Hulu: Schedule, Casts and Where to Watch

Back in the ‘90s, you watched whatever TV show was on at any given time. There was no DVR, so you had to make sure you perfectly timed your life around your favorite shows. Plenty of other kids did that, too, and that led to a huge rise in the popularity of certain TV stars, according to Parade.

Child actors like Soleil Moon Frye, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Brian Austin Green and more became mega-stars at a time where social media wasn’t a thing. They also weren’t as hounded by paparazzi as young stars are today, giving them the freedom to do normal kid stuff behind the scenes. Now, footage of that time is turning up in the upcoming documentary Kid 90. The documentary focuses on what life was like for a slew of child actors that no one else saw. Here’s what you need to know about Kid 90.

Soleil Moon Frye is opening the vault to the '90s.

In the trailer for her new Hulu documentary, Kid 90, Frye relives a pivotal time in her life as she came of age in front of the cameras, quoted ET.

"As a teenager, I carried a video camera with me, everywhere I went I documented my entire life," the Punky Brewster star says in the trailer.

"I carried that video camera everywhere and then locked it away for 20 years and I had never really looked back at it, and a few years ago, I decided to unlock Pandora's box, and really it was meant to be about everyone but me, but it ended up becoming this really deeply personal coming-of-age story that really changed my life forever," she adds.

You can spot a bunch of famous faces in the trailer, including Frye, David Arquette, Gosselaar, Green, Heather McComb, Cory Feldman and Stephen Dorff.

While they don’t appear in interviews in the trailer, the doc will also address other stars like the late Jonathan Brandis. Photos for the show include one of Frye and Candace Cameron Bure.

“I remember a Saved by the Bell director saying, ‘The minute you walk onto the stage, you’re no longer a child anymore. You’re an adult,” Gosselaar said. According to Green, who starred in Beverly Hills: 90210, “there were 12 kids in the business. We all knew everyone.”

Feldman opened up in the trailer about someone he had a special relationship with, saying, “We would talk for two, three hours and fall asleep on the phone. We were just so close.”

The documentary will show the dark side of childhood fame, too

“There was an innocence, to begin with,” Arquette said before you see scenes of child actors partying. “Men treated me more like a woman and not a 13-year-old,” Frye says at one point, adding that she was called “Punky Boobster” at times.

Gosselaar made it clear that he doesn’t think children should be actors. “This business…I don’t feel like it’s a place for children,” he says. The trailer also shows footage of Brandis who died by suicide in 2003. “It seemed like I was losing a friend every week,” Feldman said.
