According to the latest update of Forbes' world billionaires list (February 2023), Vietnam has 6 billionaires: Vingroup Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong, VietJet Air CEO Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Hoa Phat Chairman Tran Dinh Long, Chairman of Techcombank Ho Hung Anh, Chairman of Thaco Tran Ba Duong and Chairman of Masan Nguyen Dang Quang.

7 Vietnamese Billionaires Among World’s Richest 2022/2023
The 2022 Forbes list of the planet’s richest people features the highest ever number of Vietnamese billionaires at seven – a woman and six men worth $21.2 billion collectively.
Apart from Bui Thanh Nhon, 64, chairman of the Nova Group, who breaks into the list for the first time, each of the other six has been on the Forbes annual ranking at least once. Real estate giant Nova Land Investment is the flagship company of the Nova Group.
Nhon of Nova Group is in 1,053th place with a net worth of $2.9 billion.
According to Forbes, war, pandemic and sluggish markets have hit the world’s billionaires this year.
This year’s listing of 2,668 billionaires is 87 fewer than a year ago. Together, they are worth $12.7 trillion, which is $400 billion less than in 2021.

Who is Richest Person in Vietnam - Top 6 Vietnamese Billionaires
1. Pham Nhat Vuong - 7.5 billion USD
Update April 2022:
Pham Nhat Vuong, 53, remains Vietnam’s richest man with a net worth of $6.2 billion, down from $7.3 billion last year. Ranked 411th in the world, he is the only Vietnamese billionaire on the list that has seen total asset value drop from last year.
Pham Nhat Vuong (Chairman of Vingroup) was the first USD billionaire on the Vietnam stock exchange beginning on March 7, 2011, with assets worth of about 21.2 trillion VND, equivalent to 1 billion US dollars at that time.
After two years, he was honored for the first time as Vietnam's USD billionaire on the Forbes list, ranking 974th in the world with total assets of 1.5 billion USD.
On the updated list of Forbes, Vuong currently has 7.5 billion USD.
2. Tran Dinh Long - 3.1 billion USD
Update April 2022: Tran Dinh Long, founder and chairman of steelmaker Hoa Phat Corp, with a net worth of $3.2 billion, up $1 billion from last year. Long stands 951st in this year's list, which marks the second time he has made it to the ranking.
Mr. Tran Dinh Long reappeared in Forbes' ranking after the first time in 2018. By December 24, 2021, the Chairman of Hoa Phat Group rose to second place in Vietnam's ranking with a fortune of 3.1 billion USD, an increase of more than 800 million USD compared to the beginning of the year.
HPG is in the blue-chip group that leads the market in the early and mid-year period. Thanks to the sudden increase in business results, Hoa Phat's stock became the focus of attention. The price of this share increased from the threshold of 31,000 VND to more than 55,000 VND in early June, then to 60,000 VND. This result used to help Long's fortune approach 4 billion USD.
3. Ho Hung Anh - 2.6 billion USD
Update April 2022: Techcombank chairman Ho Hung Anh, 51, is on the list for the fourth time. His net worth stays at $2.3 billion, up from $1.6 billion last year.
At the beginning of 2020, this billionaire's assets reached only 1.3 billion USD, ranking fourth on the list of Vietnamese billionaires.
After more than a year of being negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Ho Hung Anh's fortune was recorded by Forbes at an impressive number of 2.6 billion USD. This improvement brought the Chairman of Techcombank to the top 3 on the list of the richest people in Vietnam.
4. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao - 2.5 billion USD

Update April 2022: Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, 51, has made the list for the sixth time with a net worth of $3.1 billion, ranking 984th. She is currently CEO of VietJet Air and president of Sovico Group, a leading investment group in Vietnam.
Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao is President-cum-CEO of Vietjet Air and Vice President of HDBank.
2021 was a difficult year for the domestic aviation industry. However, with specific strategies, Vietjet Air still recorded amazing development milestones.
Vietjet has announced its financial report for the third quarter of 2021. Vietjet Air's net revenue reached 2,654 billion VND, down 25% compared to the second quarter and down 5.5% over the same period last year.
Although revenue fell to a record low, this is the quarter where Vietjet Air had a gross profit of up to 559 billion VND, the highest since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.
5. Nguyen Dang Quang - 2.2 billion USD
Update April 2022: Masan chairman Nguyen Dang Quang, 58, shows up on the list for the third time this year with a net worth of $1.9 billion while Tran Ba Duong, 62 chairmen and founder of the Truong Hai Auto Company (Thaco), has a net worth of $1.6 billion.
The fifth richest person in Vietnam is Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang, Chairman of Masan Group. As of December 23, Forbes recorded a fortune of the Chairman of Masan Group at 2.2 billion USD.
Like billionaire Ho Hung Anh, Quang was known for being a successful Eastern European entrepreneur in the chili sauce and instant noodle industries, before bringing their companies back to Vietnam and building their empires with Masan and Techcombank.
6. Tran Ba Duong and his family - 1.6 billion USD

The sixth richest person in Vietnam is Mr. Tran Ba Duong, Chairman of Truong Hai Automobile Group (Thaco).
Truong Hai Automobile Company founded by Duong initially only sold cars at the beginning, then gradually assembled for foreign brands such as Kia, Mazda and Peugeot, and produced Vietnamese-branded buses and trucks. Duong currently holds a fortune of up to 1.6 billion USD. Compared to February 2020, the billionaire's fortune has decreased by about 100 million USD.
7.Bui Thanh Nhon -$2.9 billion
Bui Thanh Nhon of Nova Group is in 1,053th place with a net worth of $2.9 billion. Since the end of 2022, Nova Land Real Estate Group has fallen into crisis and Mr. Nhon has dropped from the list of Vietnamese billionaires.
