Car rentals are in high demand, but rental car companies haven't yet grown their fleets to fill the demand. This has created a surge in car rental rates for last years.
Top 10 Most Expensive Cities for Car Rentals In The World
The study by Compare the Market has analysed the average cost of car hire in some of the world’s most visited destinations to see which have the highest and lowest daily rates when it comes to car hire.
For each city, the research took the average cost of a ‘standard’ car (5 adults, 3 bags).
New research by Compare the Market reveals Singapore is the most expensive city in the world to hire a car.

Singapore is the most expensive city to hire a car. In fact, the daily rate for car hire in Singapore is over eight times more expensive than that in Madrid, at US$115. Although, given that Singapore is a small island, you can probably get around without hiring a car.
Another pricey destination when it comes to car hire is Fukuoka, Japan, which ranks second place at an average cost of US$105 per day.
10 cheapest cities to hire a car around the world
The research also revealed the 3 cheapest cities were; Madrid (Spain), Lima (Peru) and Cancun (Mexico). These cities were priced at US$14, US$25 and US$22 respectively, which is significantly lower than the highest - Singapore, US$115.
Other cities included in the top 10 cheapest countries for car rental included; Cairo, Dubai, Moscow, Krakow, Rio de Janeiro and Abu Dhabi.
