When serving as secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee, Xi Jinping told a reporter from Yan'an, "I make a phone call to my wife (Peng Liyuan) every day. We have been married for more than ten years, but I do that every day."
On Lunar New Year's Eve, Peng Liyuan would often perform during the Spring Festival Gala on China Central Television. Xi Jinping would make dumplings while watching the show and would wait for her return before he began enjoying the family feast.
A loving home is that even when they are not together, they still keep one another in each other's hearts. After the Eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan are often seen together at important state events, a signal of the Chinese nation's traditional virtues of attaching importance to the family in the international diplomatic arena.

Peng Liyuan is a Chinese contemporary folk singer, a native of Yuncheng County, Shandong province and she is the spouse of the President of the People's Republic of China.

Peng is ten years younger than her husband. She met Xi on a blind date when he was in Fujian. "What kind of songs do you sing? I'm sorry, I don't watch much television," he said to Peng, already one of China's most famous singers, according to an interview she gave the Chinese press.
When Xi was thirty-three, a friend introduced him to Peng Liyuan, who, at twenty-four, was already one of China's most famous opera and folk singers... Peng thought that he looked “uncultured and much older than his age," but he asked her questions about singing technique, which she took as a sign of intelligence. Xi later said that he decided within forty minutes to ask her to marry him.
Peng's parents worried about whether an ambitious politician could be a devoted husband, but Xi pleaded with his bride-to-be: “My father is also the son of a peasant. All my siblings have found ordinary spouses. I will explain this to your parents. They will accept me." They married the following year in a modest ceremony, as cited by The New Yorker.

For many years, Xi Jinping's wife, Peng Liyuan, a celebrated folk singer, was better known than him. Peng Liyuan, China's new first lady, is glamorous, fashionable and one of her nation's best-known singers, a startling contrast to her dour-looking predecessors.
As she accompanies her husband on his trips abroad she appears ready to carve out a new role for herself.
At a time when China's Foreign Ministry is struggling to improve China's international image, Ms. Peng, who has dazzled audiences at home and abroad with her bravura soprano voice, comes as a welcome gift. Others see her as roughly equivalent to Michelle Obama: modern, outgoing, intrigued by fashion, according to the New York Times.

She's the only child of the world's second most powerful leader – but unlike Ivanka Trump or Malia and Sasha Obama, few people even know Xi Mingze's name.
Aside from a few basic biographical details, very little is known about the cherished daughter of Chinese President Xi Jinping and his second wife, famous folk singer Peng Liyuan.
The 27-year-old was born on June 27, 1992, and studied French at her high school, Hangzhou Foreign Languages School.
According to the China Times, she was nicknamed "Xiao Muzi" by her grandfather, Communist revolutionary and former state official Xi Zhongxun, "designating her as an innocent and decent person who is useful to society".
She is "reputed to be a low-key and easygoing girl, who counts reading and fashion among her hobbies", according to the brief 2012 profile in the Taiwanese newspaper.
Like Vladimir Putin with his "secret" daughters, the Chinese leader fiercely protects her from the prying eyes of the outside world – often using the Communist dictatorship's vast internet censorship powers, China Plus cited.
She travelled to the US in 2010 to study at Harvard University in Massachusetts under a pseudonym, but it wasn't until 2012 that many people had even heard of her.
According to Asahi Shimbun correspondent Kenji Minemura, who attended her commencement ceremony, during her time at Harvard, her true identity was known only to a handful – "less than 10" – of faculty and close friends, as cited by NZ Herald.
