UFO Report in Full: Can't Explain 143 of 144 Mysterious Flying Objects
In an image from video footage from 2015, an unexplained object is seen at center as it soars among the clouds, traveling against the wind. "There's a whole fleet of them," a naval aviator tells another, though only one indistinct object is shown. |
The U.S. government released a UFO report put together by the intelligence community and the Pentagon, including a specially created Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) Task Force. That report, released by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, was meant to shed light on the mystery of those dozens of flying objects, spotted from 2004 to 2021, but instead said it didn't have adequate data to put all but one of them into a categor.

While the report could not provide many answers, it did offer a range of possibilities. It said the UFOs, or UAPs, could be part of a secret U.S. government or military project, but did not cite any such cases. |
The Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) Task Force, formally created by Congress in 2020, was given a mere six months to put together an overview of a decades old mystery, a daunting task made harder since only two staff members, working part time, were assigned to write the report.
The task force concentrated its review on 143 unexplained reports occurring between 2004 and 2021, and confirmed that “most” of the UAPs were physical objects because they “registered across multiple sensors, to include radar, infrared, electro-optical, weapon seekers and visual observation.
UFO Report: Quick Keys
*Some of the incidents included “unusual flight characteristics” which investigators suggested could be caused by sensor errors, spoofing or “observer misperception” and needed further study.
*The report found that the unidentified flying objects “clearly pose a safety of flight issue” and could pose national security concerns.
*The report found no evidence of alien technology, but with so little known about the UFOs the task force also failed to rule it out. Investigators did find evidence of advanced technology in 18 incidents: Some UAP appeared to remain stationary in winds aloft, move against the wind, maneuver abruptly, or move at considerable speed, without discernable means of propulsion. In a small number of cases, military aircraft systems processed radio frequency (RF) energy associated with UAP sightings.
A highly awaited US intelligence report on dozens of mysterious unidentified flying object sightings said most could not be explained, but did not rule out that some could be alien spacecraft. |
*While investigators now believe there is not likely to be a single explanation for the dozens of sightings, some patterns did emerge. The task force identified similarities in shape, size and propulsion across some of the sightings. They also noted that the sightings tended to cluster around U.S. training and testing grounds, but that may just be a result of the advanced surveillance equipment and reporting protocols at those sites.
*The report says that efforts are underway to standardize incident reporting across U.S. military branches. The task force will update Congress in the next 90 days on its collection strategy.
*All videos of the incidents that have so far been released remain unexplained, the report said.
*The report, however, concluded that "this may result from a collection bias as a result of focused attention, greater numbers of latest-generation sensors operating in those areas, unit expectations, and guidance to report anomalies."
The US Air Force did start its own program to investigate UFO sightings in 1947, called Project BLUE BOOK. Over the next two decades, 12,618 sightings were reported. When the project ended in 1969, around 700 sightings were still categorized as "unidentified," according to the National Archives. |
