Lost Sock Memorial Day

Lost Sock Memorial Day on May 9 is a day to commemorate lost socks. The unofficial holiday also encourages people to let go of all the remaining single socks they are collecting in hopes of finding their partners one day.

There are few mysteries in life that are as perplexing as the mystery of the missing sock. No matter how hard you try to keep pairs of socks together, invariably one of them ventures out into the netherworld never to be found again. Lost Sock Memorial Day is a day to honor all those disappeared socks, Timeanddate noted.

Eat What You Want Day

Break all, but one of your dietary rules on May 11 or Eat What You Want Day. The only rule you must obey is, of course, eat what you want, however you want it, how much you want it!

In today's fast-paced world, where time is premium, diets have taken control of people to wish to live a healthy life. All of us have some kind of dish or food that they love but have to stay away from because it is not very healthy. This unofficial holiday allows people to take one day from the year and guiltlessly indulge in their favorite foods.

Turn Beauty Inside Out Day

Turn Beauty Inside Out Day was created by New Moon magazine, a magazine for girls, in response to People magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People" list. In the past, New Moon has published a list of "25 Beautiful Girls" to counter People's list, where they focused on the inner beauty characteristics of "good works, good heart, and activism." They also encouraged young girls to create a video, audio, or web or print ads that showed inner beauty and suggested that they get them to local media and enter them in a contest they held.

The goal of the day is to shift the definition of beauty from outer beauty to inner beauty. It exists to promote awareness for issues that girls face, particularly by recognizing the negative pressures put on them by the media, such as the need to be thin, Checkiday noted.

Put a Pillow on Your Fridge Day

On May 29 put a pillow on your fridge to bring good luck and wealth to your home because it is Put a Pillow on Your Fridge Day.

The origins of Put a Pillow on Your Fridge Day are unknown, but common wisdom is that the holiday gives a modern day twist to the old tradition of putting linens in the pantry to bring luck. Why doing so will bring luck is anyone's guess.

My Bucket's Got a Hole Day

May 30 is My Bucket’s Got A Hole in It Day, a day to carry around a bucket with a hole with you. It is unclear if the unofficial holiday was created in honor of the song by the same name made popular by American singer Hank Williams or to celebrate buckets with holes in them. Either way, see below on how to celebrate this offbeat hole-i-day, Holidayscalendar noted.
