1. Providence Hospital

Address: 6801 Airport Boulevard Mobile, Alabama
A top healthcare staffing company, Soliant, does an annual poll and found that mobile's Providence Hospital got 120,086 votes, which is 23.7% of all votes cast in the country. It was named the Most Beautiful Hospital in the U.S.
Providence is a hospital with 349 beds and about 1,800 doctors, nurses, and other health care workers.
This is what Soliant said about Providence Hospital:The famous American architect Bertrand Goldberg designed the "draped structure" concrete shell tower at Providence Hospital in the mid-1980s. Goldberg is best known for designing Chicago's famous Marina City complex. The tower rises independently of the base building, creating an abstract and poetic interface. This also makes the hospital stronger in case of earthquakes or hurricanes. From the ground, the building's curved shapes and tall structure make for interesting views. By damming up a natural gully on the site, a small lake was made to hold storm water. The building fits in well with its peaceful surroundings, and there are beautiful views from both inside and outside. |
2. Marian Reginal Medical Center

This stunning building from 1967 is still one of the most classic because of its beautiful stained-glass windows, tropical gardens, and classic archways. For the third year in a row (2021–2023), Marian Regional Medical Center has been named one of America's 250 Best Hospitals.
3. White Plains Hospital
Address: White Plains, New York.
In the past ten years, this building from around 1893 has undergone a major modernization and expansion project to make it look better and improve its medical capabilities. There is now a six-story tower with private rooms, and the operating rooms have been updated to have better technology. A second cardiac catheterization lab, labor, delivery, and maternity units were also built at White Plains. The cancer center was also doubled in size.
4. Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital
Address: Youngstown, Ohio
Boardman recently got a makeover that included adding two stories to the surgery suites and an 184,000-square-foot tower with six stories built on top of the lobby and post-anesthesia care unit. The project also included renovations of 50,000 square feet of the existing hospital. The building won the Interior of the Year award from the American Society of Interior Designers in 2009 and the Honor Award in Recognition of Design Excellence from the American Institute of Architects in 2010.
5. Guthrie Troy Community Hospital

For the first time ever, Guthrie Troy Community Hospital makes it onto our list this year. The current (2013) version of this 25-bed Critical Access Hospital has landscaping and interior design that make you think of a warm fall in Pennsylvania.
6. Reading Hospital
Address: West Reading, Pennsylvania.
Beautiful during the day and stunningly lit up at night: The classic beauty of red brick and light beige cement combined with modern windows tinted turquoise on top of a dramatic hillside landscape.

7. The Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center
Location: Downey, California
Rancho's new look is based on the historic Mission Revival building in the area. It includes an iconic tower and undulating, perforated metal scrim that looks like traditional stucco and terracotta roofing tiles. It won a 2016 Los Angeles Architectural Award for its renovation and extension to the existing inpatient hospital, a new outpatient building, and a new wellness and aquatics center. Gardens and sliding walls create a park-like atmosphere that makes it hard to tell the difference between inside and outside.
8. La Rabida Children's Hospital

Location: Chicago, Illinois
La Rabida is the only hospital in the country that only takes care of kids who have long-term illnesses, disabilities, or have been abused or neglected. It was new to our list in 2017 (#16) and stayed there (#17) in 2018. The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the Joint Commission have both awarded La Rabida the Gold Seal of Approval for its medical home programs. Its rooms are beautifully themed, fun, and creative.
9. Carson Tahoe Health
Location: Carson City, Nevada
The bright outside of Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center stands out in the middle of the Sierra Nevada desert. This 352,000-square-foot building on an 80-acre medical campus came in at number five on our 2014 list. A brand-new, two-story building that was finished in 2021 will connect two parts of the campus. It will span Eagle Valley Creek and provide stunning views of the plants and animals in the area.
10. Boone Memorial Hospital
Location: Madison, West Virginia
Boone Memorial Hospital is the first hospital on our list. It is located in West Virginia, in the rolling hills near the Little Coal River. The site of the old building is now a landscaped parking lot. The old building has been replaced by this warm, welcoming, 78,000-square-foot building that still has "that new car smell."
11.UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh

The UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh was named one of the most beautiful hospitals in the US by Soliant Health, a top specialty healthcare staffing company that is part of the Adecco Group. The public areas of this hospital are so colorful and full of fun 3D characters that they would take the crown from most theme park hotels. That's why HealthExecNews ranked it as the 10th most beautiful hospital in the world that same year.
12. Nooksack Regional Hospital in Nome, Alaska
This $168-million building serves 10,000 people who live in an undeveloped wilderness that includes the big-for-Alaska but out of the way city of Nome. It was ranked 11th in 2013 and 6th in 2016, 9th in 2017 and 7th in both 2018 and 2019. The 36-bed, three-story building has 36 rooms. At the end of 2023, Norton Sound Regional had made our list more times than any other hospital in the United States.

13.Brook Lane, Hagerstown
Location: Maryland
Brook Lane is a non-profit mental health organization with over 500 employees who help people in Western Maryland and the Eastern Panhandle with their mental health. The group's main campus in Hagerstown has 58 beds and is home to one of the biggest private mental health hospitals in Maryland.
14. Hampton Regional Medical Center
Location: Varnville, South Carolina
Hampton moved into its new hospital building in the beautiful Lowcountry of South Carolina in 2008. The building's famous red brick and unique curved design stood tall above its perfectly green lawn. Internal medicine, cardiology, orthopedics, general surgery, outpatient rehabilitation, primary care, and more are all provided by doctors in a building next door. Hampton Regional is connected to the Medical University of South Carolina to offer even more services.
15. Massachusetts General Hospital

Location: Augusta, Maine
The MaineGeneral Medical Center is built dozens of feet above a landscaped pond and fountain. It has glass walls and doors that connect the outdoor terraces and sitting areas to the interior, facilitating a seamless transition between the two spaces. The 192-room, 640,000-square-foot hospital was designed by Robins & Morton and finished 10 months early. It is part of a $350 million campus that also has a medical library and meeting rooms for up to 300 people.
16.South Regional Medical Center
Location: Laurel, Miss.
The 285-bed not-for-profit South Central has more than 80 physicians on staff representing 28 medical specialties and has been named a COVID-19 Center of Excellence by the Mississippi State Department of Health. It is also certified as a ‘Baby-Friendly’ facility by Baby-Friendly USA.

Location: Thomaston, Ga.
Founded in 1951 and one of the only Georgia-based facilities ever represented in our rankings, Upson Regional Medical Center joins our list for the first time. Upson Regional Medical Center is also one of the only facilities in our rankings this year that is neither a relatively new hospital nor a renovation/addition to an existing facility.
20. Flagler Hospital
Location: St. Augustine, Fla.
This non-profit institution, which was founded in 1889, provides "Centers of Excellence" in the following areas: bariatrics, heart, cancer, maternity, orthopedics, and sinus. Ranking at #11 on our 2016 list, this facility was named one of America’s Best Hospitals in 2007 by U.S. News & World Report, and named by HealthGrades as one of America’s Best 50 Hospitals in 2011.
