#12. Sugar - Maroon 5 (3.41 billion views)
"Sugar" is a song recorded by American band Maroon 5 for their fifth studio album V (2014). It was written by Mike Posner, Adam Levine, Dr. Luke, and Jacob Kasher Hindlin together with its producers Ammo and Cirkut. It was sent to contemporary hit radio in the United States, as the third single from the album on January 13, 2015. "Sugar" is a disco, funk-pop, and soul song that features a wide range of instruments including percussion, keyboards and guitars.
Commercially, the song peaked at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 and became the band's third top 10 single from V, and eighth consecutive top 10 entry. "Sugar" is the 68th song in history to score at least 20 weeks in the top 10 of the Hot 100.
#11. Sorry - Justin Bieber (3.41 billion views)
Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” is one of the most iconic pop songs of the 2010s, however, it was co-written by an artist who is not known for making pop music. In fact, Here’s a look at what this famous artist had to say about Beiber — and why Beiber had some misgivings about “Sorry.”
In 2015, Bieber released his album Purpose. Purpose includes many of his most famous songs, including “Sorry,” “Love Yourself,” and “What Do You Mean?” The albums saw Bieber working with many of the most famous producers in the business, including Benny Blanco, Diplo, and Poo Bear. One of these producers became famous making music much different from Bieber’s.
Skrillex is one of the most famous names in dubstep music. He was vital in popularizing the genre. While dubstep is an intentionally aggressive genre of music, Skrillex proved he could also make mainstream pop songs through his work with Bieber. Sone of the songs he made with Bieber for Purpose include “I’ll Show You,” “The Feeling,” and “Sorry.”
#10. Cocomelon Nursery Rhymes — Bath Song (3.75 billion views)
Slowly but surely, educational videos for children are taking over the top 10 most-viewed YouTube videos of all time. In fact, Cocomelon’s Bath Song finally took the No.10 spot on our list from Justin Bieber — which is weird when you think about it.
Here’s another video aimed at children. This one is simply a kid's song about taking a bath, with accompanying animation. We suppose this technically makes it a music video. Watch out Taylor and Bieber!
It’s just a simple song about bath time that’s less than three minutes long and has a Baby Shark Dance-esque chorus. And yet, it managed to snag its spot on this list from an internationally-famous pop star.
#9. Learning Colors Multi-Colored Eggs on the Farm (3.74 billion views)
Educational videos being among the most-viewed content on YouTube isn’t surprising if you think of it like this: If kids are going to be staring at screens for a decent portion of the day, it makes sense that the programming of choice among parents would be free to access and, better yet, educational. Miroshka TV’s Learning Colors Multi-Colored Eggs on the Farm is no exception. It’s an educational video for kids that has already racked up over 3 billion views in the two years since it was first uploaded.
It’s a fun, five-minute video that teaches young children about different colors via (crudely) animated eggs on a farm. The video itself is narrated in Russian and teaches kids the names of different colors in Russian.
#8. Gangnam Style (4 billion views) - PSY
This T-Pain-endorsed piece of art is close to impossible to summarize, so instead, here's a quick list of the batshit stuff you'll see Psy do: He sunbathes, more or less, fully clothed. He dances for a bunch of horses. He makes two women walk with him through a garbage tornado. He rests his head on the shoulder of Sauna Man. He makes two people explode. He rides a carousel. While dancing. He crashes a yoga class. And he yells at a butt...?
Why did this cheesy descent into madness, directed by Cho Soo-Hyun, bust YouTube's play counter and reign as the site's most popular video for almost five years? Maybe it has something to do with one of the things listed above, Thrillist cites. Or maybe it's because, like The Atlantic and countless others have dutifully pointed out over the years, "Gangnam Style" is a carefully crafted satire of South Korea's 1%. The song, and the visuals above, call out the country -- specifically, Seoul's posh Gangnam District -- for its unhealthy materialism. It's a smart, potent message, one not just applicable to South Korea. The way it's depicted is all mostly insane, and a little bit beautiful.

#7. Uptown Funk - Bruno Mars (4.11 billion views)
Even though it’s older than the top three videos on this list, Uptown Funk continues to gather new viewers to remain a potential chart-topping threat. Ronson’s video made its YouTube debut in November 2014 and swiftly became one of the most popular and well-liked videos ever.
Arguably just as impressive as its overall view count is that it beat such stiff competition from its contemporaries. Big music videos from other major artists, like Katy Perry, saw their big 2014 hits achieve billions of views. Uptown Funk still manages to eclipse those achievements.
#6. Recipe for Disaster (4.42 billion views) - Masha and the Bear
Now we have some kid's entertainment again. This Russian video is from the Masha and the Bear series, all about a fatherly bear who looks after said, Masha.
Child-friendly content seems to do well on YouTube - and the appearance of this Russian TV series episode is proof. While this video has garnered over 4.32 billion views on YouTube, it also has a surprising 3.9 billion 'dislikes'.
#5. Johny Johny Yes Papa (4.91 billion views) - LooLoo Kids
At the fourth spot on the list of most-viewed YouTube videos is a popular nursery rhyme Johny Johny Yes Papa, NDTV cites. It’s a short, animated music video about a mischievous baby and his Papa. It’s a simple song about a baby trying to eat some sugar (literal sugar cubes) even though his Papa obviously doesn’t approve. Does the kid get the sugar? You’ll have to watch to find out. The song itself isn’t annoying, either — it’s almost too simple and short to be a nuisance. That’s a good thing, considering it’s been viewed/listened to over 4 billion times.
#4. See You Again (4.99 billion views) - Charlie Puth
Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s See You Again is the first video on this list to have a movie tie-in — Furious 7 — to aid its promotion. It has managed nearly 5 billion views since its April 2015 debut and serves as a tribute to Paul Walker, the former star of The Fast Saga, who died in 2013.
Between July 10 and August 4, 2017, the video remained the most-viewed video on YouTube, dethroning Gangnam Style. That reign was only temporary, as it was eclipsed by Despacito. It was also the most-liked video between August 26, 2016, and July 25, 2017.
See You Again became the second video to pass the 2 billion view mark and is one of only seven videos viewed more than 4 billion times.
#3. “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran (5.21 billion views)
Ed Sheeran makes the list again, making him the only person to have two videos in the top 20 most viewed YouTube videos. Impressive stuff.
Whether you watched it or not, there’s no denying that Shape of You is one of the most-watched videos of all time. It holds records as the third-fastest video to reach a billion views and is the second-fastest to reach 2 billion and 3 billion views as well, Brand Watch cites.
Shape of You achieved all of its view count accolades in just two years, having debuted in January 2017. It seems poised to only cement itself further as one of the most popular videos so far. The song became a viral hit at the time, peaking at number-one on the singles charts of 34 countries.
#2. Despacito featuring Daddy Yankee (7.24 billion views) - Luis Fonsi
Featuring Puerto Rican artists Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, Despacito hit YouTube in January 2017 and racked up more than a billion views in just 97 days — the second-fastest run ever. The video went on to become the fastest to garner 2 billion views and the first-ever video to exceed 4 billion, 5 billion, 6 billion, and now 7 billion views.
According to Digital Trends, upon its January 2017 arrival, Fonsi's dance-inducing song quickly began breaking Vevo records, with Billboard pointing to the increasing popularity of streaming, especially in Latin America, as a major eyeball driver. It was simply bound to be king. In less than seven months, "Despacito" broke the 3 billion mark, a feat that took the old viral titan "Gangnam Style" seemingly forever to accomplish by comparison. In the process, "Despacito" showed off a number of arresting visual wonders that still have the power to make you say, Whoa!, today, including beautiful waves, colorful buildings, and the fact that Daddy Yankee stopped aging after "Gasolina."
#1. Baby Shark Dance (8.09 billion views) - Pinkfong
We reach our journey’s end, and what else could it be, but a music video and a video for children? The combo generates views with ease. You’ve probably already heard this incredibly catchy song since it went viral around the world a few years ago. It’s continued to rack up the views since.
Baby Shark Dance, produced by Korean pop manufacturer Pinkfong, isn’t a complicated song. It has sharks, repetition, and a considerable amount of existential dread — that’s about it. However, this song rose to become the number one video on this list and has inspired countless variations found across YouTube. Be warned, watching this video will have the song stuck in your head for at least 72 hours!
