The oldest person ever whose age has been verified is Jeanne Calment (1875-1997) of France, who lived to the age of 122.
Now, the oldest person alive in the world is Maria Branyas, who is 116 years old. She was born on March 4, 1907, and is an American-Spanish national. She is now living in Spain.

Mara Branyas Morera survived two world wars, the Spanish civil war, the 1918 flu pandemic, and Covid.
Branyas was born on March 4, 1907, in San Francisco, a year after her parents moved from Spain to the United States. The family spent the next eight years in Texas and New Orleans, where her father founded the Spanish-language magazine Mercurio, before returning to Spain and settling in Catalonia.
They later returned to Spain, settling in the Catalonia region. Morera injured her eardrum in a fall while returning to Spain by boat at the age of eight, permanently losing hearing in one ear.
Morera married Joan Moret in 1931, and the couple had three children together. Morera has 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren as of 2019.
Morera entered a nursing home at the age of 93 and has a long list of age-related accomplishments, including being the last known living person in Europe born in 1907 and the oldest living emigrant.
Morera has spent the last 22 years in a nursing home in Catalonia, Spain, but she was born nearly 116 years ago in San Francisco, thousands of miles away.
Despite being only a few weeks away from her 116th birthday, Morera uses Twitter to communicate with her thousands of followers, with a little help from her daughter.

Fusa Tatsumi, the fifth of six siblings, lived with her family until the age of 107, when she moved into a nursing home.
Tatsumi previously studied tea ceremony, flower arrangement, and Okoto (a classical Japanese musical instrument) at university, earning a diploma.
At the age of 32, she married Ryutaro Tatsumi and moved to Kashiwara City in the Japanese prefecture of Osaka.

Tatsumi worked in her family's orchard until she was about 55 years old. She would carry baskets of harvested fruits on her back in this role, and many of her family members believe that the physical work helped her live so long.
Tatsumi is now the oldest validated living person in Asia, as well as the second-oldest person in Osaka Prefecture history.

Edie Ceccarelli was the first of seven children born to Italian immigrants Agostino and Maria Recagno in California.

Ceccarelli is currently the oldest known living person in the United States, despite not being the oldest living American-born person.

4. Tomiko Itooka (114 years-old)

Tomiko Itooka is Japan's second-oldest validated person. She was the second of three siblings born in the city of Osaka. Itooka enjoyed playing volleyball in school.
Itooka ran a textile factory in South Korea for her husband while raising her children during WWII.
Itooka lived alone in Nara Prefecture for about ten years after her husband died in 1979. During these ten years, she frequently climbed Mt. Nijo and twice climbed Mt. Ontake (which reaches 3,000 meters).
Itooka participated in the Osaka 33 Kannon Pilgrimage twice in her 80s. She even climbed the long stone steps of the Ashiya Shrine without a cane at the age of 100.

Because Inah Canabarro Lucas was so thin as a child, many people thought she wouldn't live past the age of seven.
Despite this, Lucas is the oldest person living in Latin America today. She is also the oldest living nun, having entered the convent in the 1920s.
Lucas returned to Brazil in the 1930s, where she taught Portuguese and mathematics at a school in Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro.
Lucas attributes her longevity to God and began using a walker at the age of 110.

Hazel Plummer was born in 1908 in Massachusetts, USA, to an older sister and two older brothers. Elmer, Plummer's eventual husband, lived just down the street, and the two married in 1935.
Plummer began her career as a seamstress before working for a trendy designer outlet in Boston, Massachusetts.
Plummer became the oldest known living person in the state of Massachusetts in November 2019. Her nursing home celebrated her achievement with a special party the following year, and she even received a message from Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker. Plummer is also one of four American-born people who lived during Theodore Roosevelt's presidency (1901-1909).
Plummer had six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as of her 110th birthday in June 2018.

Juan Vicente Pérez Mora holds the coveted title of being the world's oldest validated living man. He has held this position since January 18, 2022.
Pérez was born as the ninth child of his parents in the Venezuelan town of El Cobre. He and his family moved to Los Paujiles, Venezuela, when he was young to work in agriculture. Pérez spent most of his time here harvesting sugar cane and coffee. Simultaneously, Pérez taught himself to read and write by using a book given to him by his teacher.
Pérez, 31, moved to Caricuena, Venezuela, with his wife to buy a farm and work alongside his brother. Pérez would even become the town's sheriff in 1948!
Pérez celebrated his birthday with a large gathering of family and friends. He attributes his longevity and good health to hard work, prayer, and drinking a glass of aguardiente every day.

8. Eusebio Quintero López (113 years-old)

Although he asserts that he was born on March 15, Quintero Lopez was actually born on March 6, 1910, in Vijes, Valle del Cauca, Colombia. He bears his mother's last name because he was Rosenda Quintero's only child at the time. Zenaida Quintero was his maternal grandmother. He was a blacksmith by trade. Six children were born to him and Melida Barco after their marriage.
He rode a horse through the town on his 100th birthday. He shared a home with his daughter Enith Quintero Barco, who was 71 years old in 2016. Since Quintero Lopez became a widower in 1962, they have shared a home. He was mentally alert and still able to use a cane to walk at the age of 108. 2020 March will mark his 110th birthday. He had two daughters who were still alive at the time: Oliva, born in 1935, and Enith, born in 1943. Additionally, he had eight great-great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and 13 grandchildren.
He passed Daniel Guzman-Garcia in age on June 19, 2021, to become the oldest Colombian ever to have his age recorded.
After Sofia Rojas, 114, passed away on July 30, 2022, he became the oldest known (documented) living person in Colombia.
He is still able to walk with assistance at the age of 113.
At 113 years and 40 days old, Quintero Lopez resides in Vijes, Valle del Cauca, Colombia. Behind Juan Vicente Perez Mora, he is currently the second-oldest validated living man in the world.

He and his wife Herminia celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary in April 2013 when he was 103 years old. In 2015, he lost his wife. He had 80 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great grandchildren as of April 2020.

Yang Longsheng is said to have been born in Shanghai's Xinhe Village on November 12, 1910, according to the lunar calendar (12 December, according to the solar calendar).

Yang was listed as Shanghai's third-oldest living man in October 2020, behind Tao Ruisheng and Chen Zhongbo. Yang was listed as Shanghai's oldest living person in October 2022; Tao Ruisheng vanished into oblivion.
