Man City’s rising star Foden tops the list
Man City’s rising star Phil Foden tops the list of the Top 10 Most Valuable Football Players in the World - update July, 2021

Every year the numbers get more and more staggering, but what may surprise you is that the game's most historically valuable (and still highest-paid) players aren't necessarily seen as such anymore. According to Swiss organization CIES Football Observatory, which charts the values of soccer players and clubs annually.

Instead, it's the most recent generation of talent, having broken through the ranks and changed the way the game is played as they've done so, that now boast some of the biggest price tags ever seen in any sport. And no doubt much to the pride of the nation that birthed the game, the three most valuable players in Europe's top five leagues are English.

The CIES Football Observatory have updated value of each player based on several attributes. England stars Phil Foden, Mason Mount, and Marcus Rashford are among top ten most valuable players in football.

Kylian Mbappe, who is considered one of the world’s best players, is a notable absentee. However, that comes down to the France forward having just one year left on his Paris Saint-Germain contract.

*Note: The upcoming football stars are featured on this list as they have a higher market value
