At one point in time, Albert Pujols was at the top of the popularity list when it comes to sports cards and collectibles. With a panache for clutch-hitting in addition to his ability to hit for power, Pujols will always be a Cardinal in the hearts and minds of St. Louis fans after leading his team to a World Series title in 2011, as cardboardconnection.com reported.

Signed pieces of memorabilia, including balls, bats and jerseys command top-dollar on the secondary market, a testament to his continued popularity amongst fans and collectors alike. Items signed as a member of the Cardinals do carry a slight premium.

6. 2001 Albert Pujols Bowman Chrome Auto Rookie /500 - $25,000

As with so many modern players, the Bowman Chrome Auto prospect card is king.

The crown jewel for Pujols collectors, its value is dictated in large part by its scarcity. There are only 500 of the 2001 Bowman Chrome Auto in circulation, and just seven PSA 10s. A BCG 9 recently sold on eBay for $25,000.

For reference, Nationals phenom Juan Soto’s Bowman Chrome Auto Refractor prospect card already commands around $4,700 as a PSA 9, with list prices as high as $13,500 on eBay for a PSA 10. By the time Pujols is enshrined in Cooperstown, collectors who didn’t jump on this card early will have missed the boat.

7. 2001 Topps Traded Gold Albert Pujols Rookie - $15,000

Aesthetically, there are few cards more appealing than the Topps Gold Pujols rookie. Financially, there are few unnumbered modern cards that are more expensive. The 2001 Topps Traded card is Pujols’ first MLB rookie card to be released by Topps. There are just 19 PSA 10s in existence, with one selling earlier this year on eBay for $15,000.

Even the base version of this Prince Albert rookie card is going for around $7,000.

8. 2001 Topps Chrome Traded Albert Pujols/Ichiro Suzuki Gold Rookie - $15,000

Albert Pujols wasn’t the only future Hall of Famer to debut in 2001. Pujols shared the headlines with a certain Japanese superstar who took the American League by storm. Ichiro landed both the AL Rookie of the Year and MVP awards in ’01, while Pujols won NL Rookie of the Year honors and finished fourth in MVP voting.

The 2001 Topps Chrome Traded Gold card is split down the middle, with the two stars sharing the special rookie card. With a PSA 10 population of six, you can find this highly-coveted dual rookie card listed for as much as $15,000 on eBay.

The next time these two share real estate like this, it will be in the halls of Cooperstown.

9. 2001 SP Authentic Albert Pujols Rookie /1250 – $12,000

Like the next card on this list, one of the things that makes this card so special is its scarcity. At current, there are only six Cards certified as PSA 10s. One interesting thing collectors will notice is the back of this card predicts how far Pujols career was going to go. According to Boardroom, the quote on the back of the card is “he has the skills to become an all-star.” Considering the value of some of the Cards on this list, Pujols neatly fits onto that list, as moneyinc.com reported.

10. 2001 Topps Traded #T247 Albert Pujols RC – $7,000

The 265-card base pack in the Topps Traded program was released in October 2001. The 2001 Topps Traded and 2001 Topps Chrome Traded sets were consolidated. As moneyinc.com reported, there were ten Cards in each pack, with eight 2001 Topps Traded and two 2001 Topps Chrome Traded cards. The 265-card deck is classified as follows: 99 Cards featuring player trades made between the 2000 off-season and the 2001 season; 60 future stars who have never appeared alone on a Topps card; 55 rookies who make their Topps debut; six managers (T145-T150) who have either switched teams or were newly hired for the 2001 season; and 45 traded reprints (T100 through T144) of rookie Cards featured in previous Topps Traded sets.
