Kingfisher is an Indian beer brewed by United Breweries Group, Bangalore. The brand was launched in 1978. With a market share of over 36% in India, it is also available in 52 other countries. The Heineken Group holds 42.4% equity shares in United Breweries Ltd. In the Brand Trust Report 2013, Kingfisher was ranked 102nd among India's most trusted brands and subsequently, according to the Brand Trust Report 2014, Kingfisher was ranked 198th among India's most trusted brands.
During the years 2009 through 2015, United Spirits (USL) / Diageo exited all non-core investments in United Breweries and sold 850,000 INR shares to Heineken, which will now give it leverage to managing affairs of India's largest beer producer. USL sold 3.21% shares for Rs 872 crore in a block trade. The shares were sold at Rs 1,030 apiece, a slight premium to Tuesday's closing price of Rs 1,014.10. As of July 2015, Heineken's stake in United Breweries (UB) has increased from 39% to 42.1%. This deal will give Heineken an upper hand over Vijay Mallya in running the company.
9. Tsingtao, China

Tsingtao Brewery Co. Ltd. is China's second largest brewery, with about 15% of domestic market share. It was founded in 1903 by Bavarian settlers in Qingdao, Shandong province. Its logo displays an image of Zhanqiao, a pier on Qingdao's southern shore.
Tsingtao Brewery was founded by the Anglo-German Brewery Co. Ltd., an English-German joint stock company based in Hong Kong which owned it until 1916. The brewery was founded on August 15, 1903 as the Germania-Brauerei (Germania Brewery) with a paid-in capital of 400,000 Mexican silver dollars divided into 4,000 shares priced at $100 each.
Since 1903 Tsingtao has been brewed using the same unique process implemented by German and English settlers in Qingdao, China. A year later their first beer was served at a live kung-fu fight. They still use fresh spring water from the Laoshan Mountain, the same place the ancient religious belief of Taoism originated.
8. Red Stripe, Jamaica

All Red Stripe was originally brewed by Desnoes & Geddes Limited in Kingston, Jamaica.
In 2012, Diageo (then owners of Red Stripe) moved brewing of Red Stripe intended for the U.S. market to City Brewing Co. in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and Latrobe Brewing Company in Latrobe, Pennsylvania (home to Rolling Rock). Production of Red Stripe brewed for Jamaica, Brazil, Canada, and Europe stayed in Jamaica.
In 2015, two California people sued Diageo for misrepresenting that Red Stripe is a Jamaican beer. This despite the fact that the bottles noted the Pennsylvania brewery.
In late 2015, Heineken USA purchased Red Stripe from Diageo. In 2016, the company released news that all brewing operations for the brand will return to Jamaica.
Red Stripe pours with a dead-on appearance of the style. It's color is that of light straw and it's very clear although with fewer bubbles than other representatives of the style. The head rises white with a medium density and falls rather quickly.
Red Stripe's aroma is grainy sweet with just a hint of sweet apples. Its flavor follows suit with a generally nondescript sweetness and a healthy carbonation sting on the tongue.
Around the middle of the drink, some hops peek through then quickly scuttle away as a lingering sweetness hangs in the mouth. The beer has a full mouthfeel and a generally fuller flavor than most light lagers.

Cerveza Pacífico Clara, better known as Pacífico, is a Mexican pilsner-style beer. Cerveza Pacífico is named so because the Pacífico brewery is located in the Pacific Ocean port city of Mazatlán, in the state of Sinaloa, México.
It was first brewed in 1900 when three Germans, Jorge Claussen, Germán Evers and Emilio Philippy opened a brewery, the Cerveceria del Pacífico, in Mazatlán. Its label includes a picture depicting a lifesaver encircling a ship's anchor superimposed over the port's lighthouse hill, known locally as "Cerro del Crestón." In Mazatlán, the beer is available in four different size bottles: "cuartitos" (6 fl. oz), "medias" (12 fl. oz.), "ballenas" (32 fl. oz.) and "Ballenón" (1.2 L).
Alcohol content: 4.5 percent. "Clara" means clear, blonde, as opposed to "oscura" (dark).
The Pacífico brewery was bought by Mexican brewing giant Grupo Modelo in 1954, which was later acquired by the Belgian-Brazilian Anheuser-Busch InBev company.
As of 2020 the brand is owned and marketed in Australia by Lion.
4. Hanoi Beer, Vietnam

The pride of Vietnam’s capital is crisp and deliciously inexpensive. Lightly golden with a mild smell of grass and hops, the hint of a citrus tang makes this a champion thirst quencher. It is also infinitely preferable to its debaucherous cousin Hanoi Vodka, which your wallet might like at only two pounds a bottle, but your head won’t thank for the two day hangover.
3. Alpha Pale Ale, Australia
Photo: The Sun |
Pale ale is an ale (a beer brewed using warm fermentation) made with pale malt. The term first appeared around 1703 for beers made from malts dried with high-carbon coke, which resulted in a lighter colour than other beers popular at that time. Different brewing practices and hop levels have resulted in a range of tastes and strengths within the pale ale family.
Coke had been first used for dry roasting malt in 1642, but it wasn't until around 1703 that the term "pale ale" was first applied to beers made from such malt. By 1784, advertisements appeared in the Calcutta Gazette for "light and excellent" pale ale.
By 1830, the expressions bitter and pale ale were synonymous. Breweries tended to designate beers as "pale ales", though customers would commonly refer to the same beers as "bitters". It is thought that customers used the term bitter to differentiate these pale ales from other less noticeably hopped beers such as porters and milds.
By the mid to late 20th century, while brewers were still labeling bottled beers as pale ales, they had begun identifying cask beers as bitters, except those from Burton on Trent, which tend to be referred to as "pale ales".
A serial award winner, the most recent of which was being awarded first place in the 2013 Australian International Beer Awards. It’s brewed by Matilda Bay Brewing Company in Victoria and has the added benefit of not being in any way related to Fosters. The Amber Nectar, as it is unaffectionately known, is an Australian imposter, brewed under license in England and largely unknown in the Outback. Back to Alpha Pale Ale, the makers advise it tastes best when accompanying steak and caramelised onions, but then what doesn’t?

In 2009, the globally acclaimed chef Ferran Adrià, Juli Soler and sommeliers Ferran Centelles and David Seijas from El Bulli Restaurant created a luxury bottled lager beer called Inedit for Estrella Damm by mixing blend of lager and wheat beer styles, then a combination of barley malt, wheat, hops, coriander, orange peel, yeast and water. Inedit means "unprecedented".
In 2012, Estrella Damm aired its first UK commercial, which features the band Billie the Vision and the Dancers and was set in Menorca.
