Anyone who has attended school or been to a cinema in Myanmar will doubtless be familiar with the stirring opening bars of the country’s national anthem, Kabar Ma Kyei or “Till the End of the World”.

Saya Tin is a Burmese songwriter. He was among the top three composers in prominence before World War II.

A further pair, Nandawshae Saya Tin and Thahaya Saya Tin. Kaba Ma Kyei, a piece he wrote, became the Burmese national song (Myanmar).

His parents, Daw Thein and An Yaung, gave birth to Tin on February 12, 1894, in Mandalay. My grandfather served as an official under the late King Thibaw of Myanmar.

Tin is the younger of two sisters; her older sister is also a sister. When Tin was 17, she finished middle school and began teaching at a private school, where she remained for three years. Tin spends his free time learning how to play the concertina and delving into the sounds and traditions of Burmese music.

Tin opened his own Buddhist private school in Mandalay in 1918, naming it the Young Buddha Buddhist Academy. The students eventually started referring to the institution as YMB I Tin.

Soon after closing his school in 1930, Tin relocated to Yangon, where he began recording and using his songs in films. Once again reunited, Tin decides to join the ranks of the Dobama Asiayone political movement led by his old school classmate Thakin Ba Thaung (We Burmese Association).

In 1930, Tin and Ba Thaung wrote Kaba Ma Kyei (Till the End of the World), the Burmese national song. On July 20, 1930, at 5:00 p.m., Tin sang the song at the inaugural ceremony held on the pagoda's flat ground.

After the event, British officers arrested Tin on charges of subversion and threw him in jail. It wasn't until 1946 that Tin was first made available to the public. Tin was given a thousand kyats as a reward after the song became the national anthem of Burma in 1947.

The government of Burma bestowed the title of Wunna Kyawhtin upon him on the country's independence day, January 4, 1950. (the beautiful-famous). Saya Tin passed away from tuberculosis on August 8th, 1950. (TB).

It was on September 22nd, 1947, that the National Parliament of Myanmar officially adopted the current version of the national anthem. To be included in its constitution as a sovereign nation, Myanmar required to create a state flag, symbol, and national song in the year leading up to its independence. To get the job done, a group made up of ethnic political leaders, writers, and artists from the Bamar, Kachin, Chin, Karen, Shan, and Rakhine communities was organized.

The Parliament stipulated that the anthem must be between 1:30 and 2 minutes long, be distinct from modern music, be universally uplifting, and be acceptable to all ethnic groups.

The national anthem was based on "Dobama Song," a song by YMBA Saya Tin that was considered to be Myanmar's first patriotic song during the time of British colonial control and Japanese rule.

The new national anthem's lyrics were written to reflect the idea of a Union, and the song "Kaba Ma Kyei," which translates to "Until the End of the Earth," was chosen. India and Pakistan did not have official national anthems until much later.

Later, during the rule of military rulers generals Ne Win and Than Shwe, new state flags and insignia were established, but the national anthem was never altered. Singing the national anthem dishonorably in whole or in part, recomposing the anthem, or falsely presenting another song as the national anthem are all violations of the National Anthem Law, which was passed in 2010.
