Zodiac
The zodiac is one of the oldest universal symbolical languages. It comes from the Greek Zôè (life) and diakos (the wheel). It can thus be translated as the “Wheel of Life”.
The first zodiacs were based on the Moon, divided into 28 sectors corresponding to the 28 steps of the Moon’s path around the Earth. The Moon was the most easily observed, due to its proximity to the Earth. Afterward, the zodiac became Sun-based, divided into 12 sectors, one for each step of the Sun’s path around the Earth.
Little is known about the specific origins of the zodiac, but once again its symbolical representation (a wheel divided into 12 equal parts that all have a different name) can be found in every corner of the planet (Egypt, Judea, Persia, India, Tibet, China, North and South America, Scandinavian countries, Muslim countries). For example, the Chinese Zodiac, Sheng Xiao, is based on a twelve-year cycle, where every year of the lunar calendar in the cycle corresponds to an animal sign. Every person, from the day they are born, has a unique animal sign accompanying them throughout life, according to Askastrology.
The Elements
Each of the 12 horoscope signs belongs to one of the four elements – Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. These elements represent an essential type of energy that acts in each of us. Astrology aims to help us focus these energies on the positive aspects and to gain a better understanding of our potential and our positive traits and deal with negative ones.
These four elements help describe the unique personality types associated with astrological signs. The four zodiac elements exhibit profound influence on basic character traits, emotions, behavior, and thinking.
Water Signs
Water signs are exceptionally emotional and ultra-sensitive. They are highly intuitive and they can be as mysterious as the ocean itself. Water signs love profound conversations and intimacy. They rarely do anything openly and are always there to support their loved ones. The Water Signs are Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces.
Fire Signs
Fire signs tend to be passionate, dynamic, and temperamental. They get angry quickly, but they also forgive easily. They are adventurers with immense energy. They are physically very strong and are a source of inspiration for others. Fire signs are intelligent, self-aware, creative, and idealistic people, always ready for action. The Fire Signs are Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius.
Earth Signs
Earth signs are “grounded” and the ones that bring us down to earth. They are mostly conservative and realistic, but they can also be very emotional. They are connected to our material reality and can be turned into material goods. They are practical, loyal, and stable and they stick by their people through hard times. The Earth Signs are Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn.
Air Signs
Air signs are rational, social, and love communication and relationships with other people. They are thinkers, friendly, intellectual, communicative, and analytical. They love philosophical discussions, social gatherings, and good books. They enjoy giving advice, but they can also be very superficial. The Air Signs are Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius reported Astrology Zodiac Signs.

Ruling Planet: Mars
Ruling House: First House of Self
Key Traits: Competitive, energetic, impulsive, fearless
Best compatible with: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
Least compatible with: Scorpio, Virgo
The cardinal fire sign is known for being dynamic, athletic, and has an insatiable appetite for winning. For this reason, they take great pride in being early adopters of anything and everything from the hottest new sneaker drop to the latest iPhone. And they pretty much live to compete and argue. Ram people tend to have the makings of a pro athlete, trend-setting influencer, or lawyer (former prosecutor and now Vice President Kamala Harris was born with her moon in Aries).
2. Taurus (21st April – 21st May): the Bull

Ruling Planet: Venus
Ruling House: Second House of Income
Key Traits: Resolute, grounded, tenacious, sensual

Least compatible with: Libra, Sagittarius
Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac, symbolized by the bull and ruled by planet Venus. Taureans are extremely patient, practical, loving, and reliable. Their determination and practicality make them very successful in life. Peculiarly, Taureans can be both, very extravagant for their love for luxury or can be worshipers of simplicity. Negative traits of Taurus include extreme inflexibility, stubbornness, and laziness reported Astrologybay.
3. Gemini (22nd May – 21st June): the Twins

Ruling Planet: Mercury
Ruling House: Third House of Communication
Key Traits: Witty, curious, charming, flighty
Best compatible with: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
Least compatible with: Scorpio, Capricorn
Those born under the Gemini zodiac sign enjoy socializing and love surrounding themselves with people. They are ruled by the planet Mercury, and so they are never happier than when they are sharing their ideas and communicating with the people around them. They enjoy chit-chat and tend to have expression and communication very high on their list of priorities. Sometimes their love for sharing themselves with others, and their never-ending list of ideas can make them seem nervous, excited, and sometimes even manic, Labyrinthos cited.
4. Cancer (22nd June – 22nd July): the Crab

Ruling Planet: Moon
Ruling House: Fourth House of Home Life
Key Traits: Compassionate, giving, sentimental, nurturing
Best compatible with: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
Least compatible with: Sagittarius, Aquarius
Cancer is a water sign, the star sign of Cancer covers the dates of June 21 to July 22. The element of water plays a very significant role over here, as it makes this sun sign one of the most flexible ones. Just like water can take the shape of any container it is put in; these people can adapt to any situation they are put in.
This is why it does not really matter what kind of living conditions they have or what facilities they get at a place; they can make peace with anything life throws at them. Their ruling planet is the moon.
5. Leo (23rd July – 23rd August): the Lion

Ruling Planet: Sun
Ruling House: Fifth House of Romance and Self-Expression
Key Traits: Charismatic, generous, optimistic, dramatic
Best compatible with: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
Least compatible with: Capricorn, Pisces
Roll out the red carpet because Leo has arrived. Leo is represented by the lion and these spirited fire signs are the kings and queens of the celestial jungle. They’re delighted to embrace their royal status: Vivacious, theatrical, and passionate, Leos love to bask in the spotlight and celebrate themselves, Allure noted.
6. Virgo (23rd August – 23rd September): the Virgin

Ruling Planet: Mercury
Ruling House: Sixth House of Wellness and Daily Routine
Key Traits: Health-conscious, analytical, service-oriented, detail-focused
Best compatible with: Virgo, Taurus, Capricorn
Least compatible with: Aries, Aquarius
The mutable earth sign might very well be mistaken as an air sign given the influence of Mercury, which means their minds are pretty much going nonstop. Lovers of lists, spreadsheets, and blank journals, Virgos are the go-to researchers, organizers, and pretty much A students of the zodiac. They're also perfectionists who adore working hard to make the end result of any pursuit "just right" — whether that's a recipe, a professional project, or a search for a partner. (Or in the case of Beyonce, whose sun is in the earth sign, the entertainment and art we can’t get enough of.) Speaking of partners and loved ones, they'll often bend themselves into knots to help and be of service to their nearest and dearest.
7. Libra (24th September – 24th October): the Scales

Ruling Planet: Venus
Ruling House: Seventh House of Partnership
Key Traits: Romantic, artistic, indecisive, diplomatic
Best compatible with: Libra, Gemini, Aquarius
Least compatible with: Taurus, Pisces
The zodiac sign Libra has thrived when their needs of balance, justice, and stability are met. They are charming creatures that somehow always surround themselves with a sense of beauty and harmony. Admittedly, some of them can go to extremes searching for that harmony - which can make their situations unreasonable or unhealthy. Their ruling planet is Venus meaning that Libras are nurturing, caring, and they can make great defenders of the downtrodden. Sometimes, they can be shy if they find difficulties in coming out of their shell and letting their guard down. Despite their more introverted side they still love a good debate.
8. Scorpio (24th October – 22nd November): the Scorpion

Ruling Planets: Pluto and Mars
Ruling House: Eighth House of Emotional Bonds and Sexual Intimacy
Key Traits: Mysterious, magnetic, power-seeking, spiritual
Best compatible with: Scorpio, Pisces, Cancer
Least compatible with: Aries, Gemini
If there is one zodiac sign that is loyal and knows the true value of friendship, it is the star sign of Scorpio. People born between October 23 and November 21 belong to this horoscope sign. They belong to the element of water, which favors being flexible and adaptable. It also goes on to show that a Scorpio person can make a place for themselves in any situation and slide out of anything by making their own path, just like water does so. It is an inherent property of flowing water that it makes its own path, and just like that, the astrological sign of Scorpio does so too, Askastrology wrote.
9. Sagittarius (23rd November – 21st December): the Archer

Ruling Planet: Jupiter
Ruling House: Ninth House of Adventure and Higher Learning
Key Traits: Philosophical, free-spirited, unfiltered, wanderlust
Best compatible with: Sagittarius, Aries, Leo
Least compatible with: Cancer, Taurus
The Sagittarius is the ninth zodiac sign, ruled by planet Jupiter and symbolized by the archer. Sagittarius is adventurous, fun-loving, easygoing, and intelligent. They are also very ambitious, extremely optimistic, and strangely, philosophical. On the other hand, carelessness, impatience, and lack of tact are some of their negative traits.
10. Capricorn (22nd December – 20th January): the Goat

Ruling Planet: Saturn
Ruling House: Tenth House of Career and Public Image
Key Traits: Traditional, down-to-earth, industrious, disciplined
Best compatible with: Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo
Least compatible with: Gemini, Leo
The Capricorn is the tenth sign of the zodiac, symbolized by the goat and ruled by planet Saturn. Representing their sign, Capricorn individuals are very often reserved, serious, and cautious. However, beneath their modest exterior, they are very determined, strong-willed individuals who can be shrewd and ruthlessly practical. But then, Capricorns are also very conservative, miserly, and can be very bitter, when hurt, according to Astrologybay.
11. Aquarius (21st January – 19th February): the Water Carrier
Photo: listland |
Ruling Planet: Uranus
Ruling House: Eleventh House of Networking
Key Traits: Humanitarian, eccentric, individualistic, cool
Best compatible with: Aquarius, Gemini, Libra
Least compatible with: Cancer, Virgo
Aquarius often comes off as an oddball - they have quirky personalities and quietly go about accomplishing their goals in quiet, and unorthodox ways. Oftentimes, just because Aquarius chooses to take the path less traveled, the results of their eccentric methods are surprisingly effective. They are the humanitarians of the zodiac, taking up banners for the greater good of humanity. Many of them are also easy going and their peculiarity alongside their curious nature makes them fast friendships. Sometimes, if they don't strive to motivate themselves, they can succumb to laziness. Many are often gifted with a strong sense of art and poetry, Labyrinthos cited.
12. Pisces (20th February – 20th March): the Fishes
Photo: starregistration |
Ruling Planets: Neptune
Ruling House: Twelfth House of Spirituality
Key Traits: Empathic, artistic, psychic, dreamy
Best compatible with: Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio
Least compatible with: Leo, Libra
Pisces, a water sign, is the last constellation of the zodiac. It's symbolized by two fish swimming in opposite directions, representing the constant division of Pisces' attention between fantasy and reality. As the final sign, Pisces has absorbed every lesson — the joys and the pain, the hopes and the fears — learned by all of the other signs, Allure wrote.
SOME TRUE FACTS ABOUT ASTROLOGYAccording to a 1999 study, the word horoscope and astrology are the two most searched topics on the Internet. Astrology is considered to be both an art and a science. Astrology is art because interpretation is needed to bring the different aspects together and formulate an idea of the individual's character traits. However, the mathematical part of astrology is also considered to be a science because it requires an understanding of astronomy and mathematics. Sixtus IV was the first Catholic pope to draw and interpret a horoscope, Leo X and Paul III always relied on astrologers for advice while Julius II has chosen his coronation date astrologically, Astrology Zodiac Signs reported. |
