Christmas Subway Attack in NYC: Woman and Man Injured
The New York Police Department (NYPD) received reports of an assault around 10:15 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old woman with a neck slash and a 42-year-old man with a wrist cut. Both victims, who appeared to be strangers, were taken to a local hospital and are in stable condition.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Jason Sargeant, was apprehended at the scene shortly after the attack. He faces multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, menacing, possession of a weapon, and harassment. Sargeant is currently in custody at a hospital, though the reasons for his treatment have not been disclosed by the police.
This incident comes a year after two teenage girls were stabbed on Christmas at New York's Grand Central Terminal. Additionally, the NYPD has faced criticism for their handling of a separate incident where a woman was fatally set on fire in a subway car on Sunday.
