According to eyewitness accounts, the 58-year-old taxi driver lost control of the vehicle, jumped the curb, and plowed into the sidewalk. The chaotic scene saw six people injured, including a 9-year-old boy and his 41-year-old mother, who were rushed to Weill Cornell Medical Center. A 49-year-old woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment. Three other women, aged 49, 19, and 37, sustained minor injuries and declined immediate medical attention.

Eyewitnesses described moments of panic as bystanders rushed to aid the victims. Some helped lift the taxi to free individuals trapped underneath, while others worked to stabilize those injured. Despite the alarming nature of the incident, none of the injuries were life-threatening.

The driver of the taxi is a 58-year-old man.
