How Tall Is Kevin Hart? Biography, Early Life, Net Worth. Photo Entertainment Tonight
Kevin Hart has a reputation for being... not so tall. But is he taller than Tom Cruise?
Kevin Darnell Hart is an American comedian, actor and producer. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Hart began his career by winning several amateur comedy competitions at clubs throughout New England. This lead to his first real break in 2001 when he was cast by Judd Apatow for a recurring role on the TV series Undeclared.
Kevin Hart appeared in the TV movies "North Hollywood" (2001) and "Class of '06" (2002) and the straight-to-video movie "Paper Soldiers" (2002) before appearing in the film "Death of a Dynasty," a spoof of the hip-hop industry that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2003.
Kevin Hart's early stand-up comedy earned him increasing attention, and his 2011 comedy special "Laugh at My Pain" provided a major boost to his public profile and led to his emergence as that year's top comedian on Ticketmaster, the dominant global ticketing agency. Hart concurrently gained prominence for his acting career, which notably included appearances in installments of the Scary Movie franchise and in movies such as "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" (2005), "Little Fockers" (2010), and "Think Like a Man" (2012). He went on to star in such box-office hits as "Ride Along" (2014), "Ride Along 2" (2016), "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" (2017), and "Night School" (2018).
Kevin Hart was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He had a fairly rough upbringing and turned to comedy as a means of coping with his troubled family life. He originally worked as a shoe salesman before leaving that for the world of acting.
He started acting in the late ‘90s and did several circuits as an amateur stand-up comedian. He got his first big break in 2001 when he was cast as Luke in Judd Apatow’s college comedy series, Undeclared. Although Undeclared lasted only one season, Hart quickly picked up more roles in movies, including Scary Movie 3, Soul Plane, and Little Fockers.
Hart released his first stand-up album, I’m a Grown Little Man, in 2008. He started to gain more mainstream recognition from a tenure of well-received comedies in the 2010s, such as Ride Along, Get Hard, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and Night School.

Who really knows how tall Kevin Hart is? He probably does, but he's apparently not very open about sharing. While he can't help but look somewhat slight next to his relatively Amazonian wife (no really, she's not that tall, it's definitely relative), Kevin can fudge the numbers a little.
For example, some sources suggest that Kevin Hart is only about five foot two. Kevin would likely balk at that, however, because some say that he once claimed to be 5'4.5". In fact, he's made jokes about growing to "a full 5 foot five.' It seems clear that Kevin is sticking by his 5'4.5" claim.
But what's the more realistic figure?
Sources often speculate Kevin is somewhere between five feet two inches and five feet four inches tall (no mention of that missing half inch). But Kevin himself appeared to confirm his actual height -- with a lie detector test!
Kevin Hart Admitted To His (True?) Height
In a funny yet somewhat uncomfortable interview with Vanity Fair, which then wound up on YouTube, Kevin Hart literally took a lie detector test and was asked about his height.
When the interviewer asked him to confirm that he's 5'2", Kevin burst out with "Absolutely not." But at that very moment, the polygraph started ticking.
As Hart counted down from five foot four to five foot two, he seemed to become more resigned to spilling the truth.
But was the interview (and the polygraph test) authentic, or was it all just a big joke? Looking at Hart's history of joking about his height on Twitter, it's tough to say. He's completely fine with making jokes about himself, although he does say he won't change his body to appease society.

Tom Cruise is another Hollywood leading man that is known for his short stature. Cruise stands 5’7” tall, so he is taller than Kevin Hart, though not by much. Cruise has also stated that he has faced casting issues due to his height.
For example, after being cast in Jack Reacher, an adaptation of the book series about the eponymous military policeman, many fans questioned the casting choice, as Reacher is described as being 6’5” in the books.
Although Kevin Hart admits to wearing height insoles with his formal shoes and wedding shoes similar to the ones at JENNEN Shoes, he continues to use his size to his advantage. Hollywood may have a prevalence of taller leading men, but that hasn’t stopped Hart from becoming one of our generation’s most successful shorter actors.
Since Kevin Hart is one of the shorter celebrities in Hollywood, he probably wants to know, like everyone else, who he might be taller than. When it comes to male celebrities, Kevin doesn't have much of an edge on anyone since his height is far below average (in the US, the average male is 5'9").
If there's any way Kevin wasn't lying about being 5'4.5", he's still shorter than celebrities like Bruno Mars, Daniel Radcliffe, and Lil Wayne. Despite the irony of being shorter than a guy literally named Lil, Kevin still maintains good humor about his appearance.
And he can boast that he's taller than at least one male celeb: Rob Schneider, who is reported to be 5 feet 3 inches tall. Then again, if Kevin's lie detector gag was true, then he's only taller than one well-known celeb of a smaller stature: Danny DeVito, who's 4'10".
Car Accident
Early in the morning of September 1, 2019, Hart was involved in a car accident in Calabasas, California. According to reports, the comedian was a passenger in his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda when the driver, Jared Black, lost control on the notoriously treacherous Mulholland Highway, sending the car off the road and down an embankment. Both were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment, with Hart requiring emergency back surgery.
The comedian appeared in public for the first time since the accident in late October when he was spotted at a Beverly Hills restaurant with Jay-Z and other friends. The following week he posted an Instagram video of his rehabilitation exercises, which included reflections on how his perspective on life had changed.
