They actually exist, and since April is coming, let's take a look at the 14 weirdest and wackiest holidays ever.

1. April Fool's Day (April 1)

April Fool's Day or April Fools' Day is celebrated on 1 April in many countries around the world. On this day, people traditionally play practical jokes on each other and have fun trying to make other people believe things that are not true.

So, what kind of jokes do people play? Well, a simple example would be telling your friend that their shoelaces are undone. Then, when they bend down to do them up, you shout, 'April Fool!', and they realise their shoelaces are fine. Maybe it's not your kind of humour, but watch out, there's always someone who will find it hilarious! In Ireland, a popular prank is to send someone on a 'fool's errand'. The victim is sent to deliver a letter, supposedly asking for help. When the person receives the letter, they open it, read it and tell the poor messenger that they will have to take the letter to another person. This continues and the victim ends up taking the message to several different people until someone feels sorry for them and shows them what the letter says: 'Send the fool to someone else.'

2. Children's Book Day (April 2)

Children’s Book Day has been created so that people all around the world can enjoy a good book! It is a day to inspire others to read, as well as calling attention to children’s books especially.

The International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) founded Children’s Book Day in 1967. As an international non-profit organization promoting the importance of literacy and reading to our children, IBBY works tirelessly to promote Children’s books and Authors and organize events in schools and libraries all over the world to get children reading.

3. Tweed Day (April 3)

There is some confusion as to what exactly Tweed Day is commemorating – is it the corrupt American Democratic boss famous for running the Tammany Hall political machine, William M “Boss” Tweed, who also ran the “Tweed Ring” which stole between $30 to $200 million through political corruption in New York, or is it the unique Scottish fabric, usually fashioned into suits, jackets and trousers in patterns such as hounds tooth and herringbone?

The obvious answer would be the Scottish material, although there is no record of April 3rd having any relevance to the origins of Tweed, the mistake that had it named Tweed, or any founders’ birth or death dates as is the usual case with days such as this.

4. Deep Dish Pizza Day (April 5)

Pizza lovers far and wide will be making the most of Deep Dish Pizza Day. This is just the holiday for those admirers of a thick, tasty crust filled with delicious toppings and baked to perfection!

It might be a good idea to start talking about deep dish pizza by taking some time to acknowledge Pizzeria Uno’s founder, Ike Sewell, without whom this day wouldn’t exist. In fact, without him, the deep dish pizza wouldn’t exist–and that would be a very sad world.

Sewell is credited with creating the spectacular deep dish pizza in 1943 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. This wonderfully tasty pizza, also known as Chicago-style pizza, is characterized by a superb buttery crust that can be as high as 3 inches tall along the edges, combined with generous amounts of flavorsome sauce, delectable toppings and cheese.

5. National Dandelion Day (April 5)

On April 5th, Dandelion Day, celebrate the benefits and beauty of this perennial plant many consider a weed. You’ll find this adaptable plant growing in a wide variety of locations.

The name dandelion comes from the French “dent de lion” meaning lion’s tooth. This refers to the leaves with their jagged tooth-like edges.

Dandelions are high in Vitamins A, B, C and D and were used by Native Americans for kidney disease, swelling and skin problems.

Harvest the young leaves in spring and add them to a salad or sauté with onions. Brighten up a salad with just the yellow portion of the flowers or ferment them into wine.

6. Plan your Epitaph Day (April 6)

There comes a day in every person’s life when they have to face the inevitable, one day, they will be little more than food for worms. But this need not be a time for sorrow and somber reflection, but rather an opportunity to plan your last words to the world. This day, Plan Your Own Epitaph Day, is the perfect day to set aside some time to figure out what you’re going to have to say about yourself before you’re gone.

Siblings day, usually held on the 10th of April is a holiday that celebrates siblings relationships. April 10th is fast approaching, and you should probably be calling your siblings to hatch up a plan on how to spend the day. Siblings are an incredible gift from God and anyone who has a brother or sister should not let the day just pass by without celebrating them.

Unfortunately, siblings day is not recognized by federal governments and the day is therefore not necessarily a national holiday. That means you’ll have to wake up and get to work just like any other day. However, that is not a reason not to celebrate it. You can always take time off your busy schedule and get together with your siblings for some quality time.

9. National Submarine Day (April 11)

National Submarine Day, on April 11th, honors the day the United States Navy acquired its first modern commissioned submarine. On April 11, 1900, the Holland VI became the Navy’s first modern submarine.

Designed by Irish-American inventor John Phillip Holland in 1896, he launched the Holland VI on May 17, 1897, at Navy Lt. Lewis Nixon’s Crescent Shipyard in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The United States Navy later purchased the Holland VI on April 11, 1900. As the Navy’s first commissioned submarine, it was renamed USS Holland (SS-1).

10. Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day (April 12)

Each year, National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day on April 12th recognizes one of the top comfort foods in the United States. Why wouldn’t it be when we’re talking about bread grilled to perfection, and warm, gooey, melted cheese.

According to food historians, many cultures around the world have enjoyed cooked bread and cheese since ancient times. The United States modern version of the grilled cheese sandwich originated in the 1920s. As sliced bread and American cheese became easily available, Americans began making open-faced grilled cheese sandwiches.

11. National Peach Cobbler Day (April 13)

National Peach Cobbler Day on April 13th each year recognizes a delicious dessert that originated during the 19th century.

Unable to make traditional suet puddings due to lack of suitable ingredients and cooking equipment, the settlers instead covered a stewed filling with a layer of uncooked plain biscuits or dumplings, fitted together. When the dish is fully cooked, the surface has the appearance of a cobbled street. The name may also derive from the fact that the ingredients are “cobbled” together. Some cobbler recipes resemble a thick-crusted, deep-dish pie with both top and bottom crust.

12. National Dolphin Day (April 14)

Each year on April 14th, National Dolphin Day recognizes the social and intelligent mammals of the water.

Dolphins are cetacean mammals that are related to whales and porpoises. They range in size from 4 feet to up to 30 feet; dolphins are among almost forty species in 17 genera. Found worldwide, they prefer the shallower seas of the continental shelves.

13. World Art Day (April 15)

Every year World Art Day on April 15th celebrates the fine arts and promotes awareness of creativity worldwide.

When humans use their creative skills and imagination to create something in visual form, it is called art. Some of the most popular types of art include painting, sculpting, drawing, photography, and calligraphy. These art forms can be used in professional applications, such as architecture, fashion design, wood crafts, and jewelry design. Along with visual arts, there are also the performing arts. Examples of the performing arts include dance, theater, and music.

14. Blah, Blah, Blah Day (April 17)

If you recognize the muffled sound of parents in Charlie Brown, you instinctively refer to it as “blah, blah, blah.” Who listens to that, when it’s all just noise? Blah Blah Blah Day is about listening to those noises, and recognizing that people are speaking to you.

We have all been there, haven’t we?… Someone asks us to do something, and we have no interest in doing so whatsoever! In fact, all we have heard them say is “blah, blah, blah” because we have tuned out entirely. Does this sound familiar? Well, Blah Blah Blah Day is all about these moments. However, rather than failing to complete the task that you’re being nagged about, you should give it your all and get the job done once and for all!
