Who is Jeremy Bulloch?

Jeremy Bulloch (February 16, 1945 - December 17, 2020) was a British actor best known for playing Boba Fett in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. He was producer Robert Watts's half-brother, according to Starwars Fandom.

The death of a star

Jeremy Bulloch died on Thursday. He was 75. The English actor died in hospital on Thursday from “health complications following his many years living with Parkinson’s disease”, according to his agent. The news was confirmed by a post on Bulloch’s Facebook page — which is private — and also by Daniel Logan, the younger actor who played the role in the prequel Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.

In an all caps Instagram post, Logan thanked Bulloch for teaching him the ropes and continued, “I’ll love you forever.!! [sic] Conventions wont [sic] be the same without you may the force be with you always. Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill later tweeted his own tribute, calling Bulloch “a fine actor” and “the quintessential English gentleman.”

A statement from his agent said: “He died peacefully, in hospital, surrounded by his family. Jeremy was best-known for the role of Boba Fett in the original Star Wars trilogy." “He had a long and happy career spanning more than 45 years. He was devoted to his wife, three sons and 10 grandchildren and they will miss him terribly. We ask that their privacy be respected at this very difficult time.”, Theguardian reported.

"Jeremy died peacefully on 17th December 2020 following health complications, including several years living with Parkinson’s disease. He spent his final weeks in the wonderful care of staff at St George’s Hospital in Tooting, close to the house where he and his wife Maureen had lived together for more than fifty years. Maureen and two of his sons, Jamie and Robbie, were with him during his final days.

Jeremy had a long and happy life as an actor and was best known for his roles in the films Summer Holiday, Star Wars and James Bond; TV series the Newcomers, Doctor Who, Agony and Robin of Sherwood, and several West End theatre productions. Away from the screen Jeremy was a talented footballer and cricketer. He also supported a number of charities including Great Ormond Street Hospital who saved his granddaughter’s life. He was devoted to his wife, three sons and ten grandchildren, who all love him dearly and will miss him terribly."

Career path

Mr. Bulloch became an actor at an early age, starring in commercials before expanding into television, stage, and film.

Among his credits were numerous TV shows from the 1970s and ’80s, including “Doctor Who” and “Robin of Sherwood.” He also played supporting roles in three James Bond features — “Octopussy,” “The Spy Who Loved Me” and “For Your Eyes Only”, Nytimes noted.

But he was best known for playing Boba Fett in “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi.” Bulloch played the bounty hunter in The Empire Strikes Back in 1980 and Return of the Jedi in 1983. Bulloch, who was born in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, also had roles in the James Bond film Octopussy in 1983 and featured in a number of Doctor Who episodes in the 70s.

Private life

Bulloch was married to Maureen; the couple had three sons and lived in London. His half-brother is Robert Watts, who was a producer on The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and the Indiana Jones films. Watts also had a cameo as Lieutenant Watts in Return of the Jedi.

His son Robbie portrayed Matthew of Wickham in four episodes of Robin of Sherwood. The character is the son of Edward of Wickham portrayed by Bulloch. Another son is the translator Jamie Bulloch. His sister Sally Bulloch was a child actress before becoming an executive manager of the Athenaeum Hotel.
