We're forced to wait for the The Falcon and The Winter Soldier episode 2 release date — because unlike with WandaVision, this series didn't put its first two episodes online on day one. But its ending certainly made us want more from the Disney Plus series, as the episode ended with the reveal of The New Captain America.

Instead, you'll need to wait for next Friday, March 26, to see it for yourself. Yes, now we see that the U.S. government wanted Sam Wilson to turn Steve's shield over for a reason: they had a new guy ready, willing and able to put on a similar outfit. Also, what's up with the Flag Smashers? Another question we want answered next week. Check out our The Falcon and The Winter Soldier episode 1 review while you're waiting.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier: Episode release dates

- Sam and Bucky reuniting. Episode 1 kept Sam and Bucky apart, but don't expect their stories to stay separate for too much longer.

- Wilson family drama. Sam and his sister are likely going to be working through their issues with their family's business and financial problems through the entire season. These things won't go away just because Sam has superhero business to tend to.

- Bucky against his past. We got an up close and personal look at some of Bucky's trauma this week during his therapy session, and a glimpse into how he's been keeping himself busy--a list of HYDRA-related people he's been tracking down. It's doubtful that list is going away any time soon, it was pretty long.

- A new Cap. Most importantly, Episode 1 closed on a cliffhanger ending and the mysterious arrival of a new, government sponsored Captain America. Expect to learn more about exactly who he is and why he was selected for the job next week. You may want to brush up on your US Agent trivia as the show progresses.

- Of course, it's best not to forget that there are other villains afoot as well. The Flag-Smasher terrorists are going to play a major role in the rest of the season and though he wasn't in this episode, Zemo is slated for a return as well. Keep an eye out, Gamespot cited.

Sam Wilson prepares to hand over Captain America’s vibranium shield to the authorities. Meanwhile, a terrorist organization called the LAF has hijacked a plane with Captain Vasant on board. Wilson rescues Vasant after a fierce battle with the adversaries. However, the leader of the LAF escapes from Wilson’s clutches. He further gets to know about another terrorist organization called the Flag-Smashers, who want to erase the boundaries of nations and unite the world through force.

Bucky Barnes is living a monitored life as he is granted a pardon for his past deeds (committed as the Winter Soldier). He has to make amends for his actions by helping the authorities apprehend Hydra operatives, who are still functioning within their power. Bucky maintains a diary with a list of these names. Moreover, he doesn’t respond to Wilson’s messages. His past puts a heavy burden on his mind, and he has to attend counseling sessions as a form of regulation.

Wilson visits his sister’s family in Louisiana and tries to help them work out their finances. However, his absence of five years creates financial anomalies that prevent him from receiving a bank loan. Meanwhile, the Flag-Smashers commit a daring robbery in Switzerland, and the leader is revealed to possess superhuman strength. The Department of Defense christens a new Captain America to maintain the image of an idealistic American superhero, Thecinemaholic noted.
