Updates News - WhatsApp, Instagram are not working
*Facebook has resolved a major outage affecting Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and other Facebook services on Friday.
“Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have trouble accessing some Facebook services,” Facebook said. “We resolved this issue for everyone, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
*Instagram confirmed on Twitter that the service is back.
Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp saw an outage in India and across the world on Friday with thousands of users reporting glitches in the popular end-to-end encrypted application.
Many users also faced to login in the popular photo-sharing app Instagram which is also owned by Facebook.
Independent tracking website DownDetector, which monitors mentions across social media to track when web services are offline, is suggesting that thousands of WhatsApp users are currently experiencing the outage. In fact, at the time of writing, there are some 70,000 complaints that users can't access the app.
According to Down Detector, which monitors and offers real-time status and outage information, users started reporting problems since 10:45 PM IST.Most users (98 per cent) reported issues of connection, sending or receiving messages and 2% users reported log-in problems.
Downdetector showed there were more than 1.2 million incidents of people reporting issues with Instagram, while over 23,000 users posted about issues with WhatsApp on the website.
Both the apps were not working globally for at least half-hour according to outage tracking website downdetector.com, however the services of both the social media apps were restored slowly.
It's unclear exactly what is causing the issues but it also seems that Facebook, Instagram and Messenger are also in trouble with fans of these apps complaining that they can't access the services.
*Friday’s outage isn’t the only recent blip in Facebook’s services: Facebook Messenger and Instagram DMs went down back in December. Facebook and Instagram also experienced big outages over Thanksgiving in 2019.
