What Trump will be doing on January 20 - Biden's Inauguration

President Donald Trump announced on Twitter, before his account was suspended, that he would not be attending the ceremony.

In response, Biden said that Trump not attending was a 'good thing' and one of the few things both agreed on.

"He exceeded even my worst notions about him. He's been an embarrassment to the country, embarrassed us around the world. He's not worthy to hold that office," Biden said.

There have been discussions at the White House about Trump leaving Washington on January 19, a source familiar with the matter said. He is expected to travel to his Florida resort, the source said to France24.

"To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th," Trump wrote on Twitter.

Trump offered no clues for how he would spent his final hours in office, and will be the first incumbent president since Andrew Johnson to skip his successor’s swearing-in. Traditionally, the incoming and outgoing presidents ride to the U.S. Capitol together for the ceremony, as a symbol of the nation’s peaceful transition.

The President Trump and First Lady may fly to Mar-a-Lago the day before the inauguration, or even the morning of, a plan said to be in discussion among White House aides.

A reported factor driving Trump’s desire to leave town prior to the event is flying on Air Force One while he still can. A post-inauguration flight would require Trump “to ask Biden to allow him to use a plane for his departure, as is customary,” according to Politico, a request the president would likely despise making — not to mention that that aircraft would no longer be called Air Force One at that point.

There’s plenty of other speculation about Trump’s Inauguration Day plans: Theories include fleeing to his golf resort in Scotland.

Wednesday's violence came hours after Trump encouraged his supporters to fight against the election results as Congress was certifying Biden's victory in the November vote.

House Democrats are planning to introduce several articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump for his role in his inciting a mob of his supporters at the Capitol on Wednesday.
