Waxing Gibbous Moon Birthday: Personality Traits, Life Horoscope - Astrological Prediction for Your Destiny

Our Moon goes through eight lunar phases throughout a month. One of them is the Waxing Gibbous Moon phase. It is when the Moon’s lit-up part is increasing. During this phase, the Moon is not yet fully illuminated but we can see more than half of it.

There are more than 200 moons in the solar system. Some of them orbit the planets while some dwarf planets have moons too. There are also asteroids known to have moons. The small moon called Dactyl was discovered orbiting asteroid Ida in the asteroid belt. The ringed planet, Saturn, has 82 moons while Mercury and Venus have none. The Earth, on the other hand, has only one natural satellite—the Moon. It is the different phases of Earth’s moon, particularly the waxing gibbous moon phase that we will look at in this post.

A waxing gibbous moon phase is actually quite a common term, even more so in astrology than it is in astronomy. As the moon orbits the Earth, its light is dependent on the reflection of the Sun, which is why it goes through different stages. We’ll explain what a waxing gibbous is, how it’s different than other phases in the journey, and how you are if born in the waxing gibbous moon phase:

What is a waxing gibbous moon?

A waxing gibbous is the stage of a moon's phase when it transcends from a half-moon into a full moon – it is considered to be the final step before becoming full.

On the other hand, the waning gibbous phase is when the light of the moon begins to wane, and the area we can see becomes smaller and smaller until we reach the waning quarter phase. The orientation of the waxing gibbous Moon depends on the time, date, your location and the Moon’s position in the sky.

As in the waxing quarter phase, in the waxing gibbous the illuminated portion of the Moon increases towards the full Moon. The term gibbous refers to the fact that the Sun’s light covers more than half of the Moon’s visible surface.

Crescent gibbous means that it visually widens from day to day, culminating in a full Moon. Crescent gibbous is an intermediate phase of the Moon that begins just after the first quarter, when the illumination is 50%.

This is the “Crescent” phase, when the Moon’s illumination grows and covers more than half of the “Gibbous” Moon. Spiritual people, therefore, use the gibbous moon as an opportunity to refine and cultivate themselves before their next stage of development.

As in the waning gibbous phase, the illuminated portion of the Moon decreases towards the New Moon. When the illuminated part of the waxing gibbous Moon reaches 98-99%, it can be difficult to differentiate it from the full Moon.

The name gibbous comes from the shape of the Moon, which is smaller than the Full Moon but larger than the semicircle shape of the Third Quarter. The waxing gibbous Moon, therefore, is the phase immediately preceding the Full Moon, a time of abundance, culmination, fertility and transformation.

Thus, a crescent moon gibbous crescent refers to one in which the moon’s illumination coverage increases from crescent to full moon. The crescent gibbous moon symbolizes the last steps you have to take to finish your work, the final stages of your project. After the full moon, it gets narrower and narrower each day, which is waning gibbous – then it reaches quarter moon (the so-called crescent) – then it is a waning crescent until it reaches the new moon. Likewise, the waning gibbous moon refers to the phase of the moon when it goes from full moon to crescent.

Most importantly, waning moon babies grow up to be people who bring others to greater joy and fulfillment. Remember that even though you were born during a waxing Gibbous Moon, you still have room to grow as a person. In the waxing Gibbous phase, the sunlit part of the Moon is in the West and in the waning Gibbous phase it is in the East.

When Does a Waxing Gibbous Moon Occur?

A Waxing Gibbous Moon is the fourth stage of the lunar cycle. It occurs after the First Quarter Moon and before a Full Moon.

Though it is not a major phase, it takes about 21.6% of the lunar month. Since a lunar month equals 29.5 days, a Waxing Gibbous Moon, on average, occupies about 6 days of the cycle.

The Waxing Gibbous Moon is the phase just before the Full Moon when the Moon is nearing its full potential. Individuals born under this Moon are predisposed to be caring, nurturing, and calming. You likely excel at developing relationships with other people, guiding them, and inspiring them to reach new heights in their lives. If you put in the time and effort, you can easily surround yourself with people who love you or at least respect you.

At this phase, the moon is still bright and mostly full. Since the effects of the moon are so strong during this phase, people born beneath it are filled with potential. Individuals born on a Waning Gibbous are highly self-aware, giving them a unique potential for growth. They make great communicators, but sometimes need to remind themselves when it’s time to listen.

This phase will have a calming influence on all signs of the zodiac. Your emotions will get back to normal and you feel much more determined now. During this moon cycle, you have the energy to accomplish whatever you want. You accept and listen to other people's ideas. Chinese astrologers believe that this phase symbolizes potency, maturity, and development. It is associated with the element fire.

If you are born in this phase you are likely to be strong-minded and capable of being aggressive. You are also very ambitious and sociable. Your charismatic personality draws others to you. You will find it hard to play second fiddle and prefer a career where you can stand out. Your personality has an underlying touch of the zodiac signs Cancer and Leo. This is what draws you towards a career that guarantees attention and status. The Waxing gibbous makes you a leader and you achieve success at a young age.

What does a waxing gibbous moon symbolize?

People usually see a waxing gibbous Moon in the evening, shortly after Moonrise, as it is rising in the east while the Sun is descending in the west. The Moon will appear as if it has been cut in half, signifying that action is ready to take place. Knowing the Moon’s energies is the first step on this path and learning how you can harness these powerful energies in your life.

During the Waxing Gibbous Moon, the light from the Moon allows for some deeper introspection—people born during this phase know how to see more of themselves. This Moon phase also encourages individual development and growth. If you were born under a Waxing Gibbous Moon, you may find yourself developing many different skills throughout your life, especially through mentorship.

Born on a waxing gibbous moon - Life Predictions

The Waxing Gibbous Moon symbolizes the final steps you have to make to finish your work, the final stages of your project. It is the time when you can see the light from the end of the tunnel, but also the time for the final stretch and sprint to finish what you have started until the Full Moon so that you could enjoy the satisfaction of your hard work.

Under the Waxing Gibbous Moon, you can feel the urge to change the direction of your life or your project. It is important not to resist this feeling. Instead of fighting, embrace it and trust it because only good things will happen if you do so. Some sacrifices will likely be needed to benefit from the reevaluation.

It is a time of the month when people strive to complete their projects, just as the moon “strives to become full”. Waning” refers to the waning of the Moon’s illumination and “waxing” means that less than half of the Moon is illuminated.

Love Life

There are around two weeks between a new moon and a full moon, during which time the moon appears to be growing larger in the sky. This is the time to act - work on your intentions and the plans you set out in the new moon phase. The moon’s energy is perfect for helping you achieve what you desire.

So go on that first date; take a leap of faith in your relationship and introduce your partner to your family (or if married, take your relationship to the next level and start planning a family if that’s what you desire). Basically, act and do rather than hope and wish.

Suitability for Astronomy

Understanding the Moon phases will help us choose the right time to observe the sky.

Stargazing under a Waxing Gibbous Moon will not be very ideal if you want a dark sky. In this phase, it is mostly lit and is approaching Full Moon. It will mostly dominate the night sky and lesser bright objects will not be easily observable.

A Waxing Gibbous Moon will not set after midnight so it is up for most of the night. This is a good opportunity if you want to observe the Moon. After this phase, it will even grow more to become a magnificent Full Moon.

However, if you are after faint stars, galaxies, and other objects, spotting them can be a bit challenging during the Waxing Gibbous phase. The best time for you to do it is during the invisible phase—a New Moon.

The period between the Last and First Quarters is also good for observing other objects. Setting up your telescopes far away from the city lights is also ideal for stargazing.
