UK and Europe Weather Forecast (Today Feb 28): High pressure remains over the UK and Ireland
UK's daily weather forecast
Tonight & February 28
Pressure will be staying high through Saturday. However, a weak front will slip south through Scotland and Ireland bringing some cloud and a few spots of rain over western coasts and hills here. This thicker cloud slips into northern England and northern and western parts of Wales in the afternoon. Staying fine though across many central, southern, and eastern parts of England, with brighter weather returning to northern Scotland and Northern Ireland in the afternoon. Highs at 9 to 11C.
Staying mostly dry overnight across the UK and Ireland with variable amounts of cloud. Clearer skies develop for many however as well as some patches of mist and fog. Frost is unlikely for most areas through a patchy frost may form in sheltered spots of northern Scotland. Overnight lows at 2 to 4C for most, slightly colder in more rural areas.
High pressure remains over the UK and Ireland through Sunday. This will be bringing lots of dry weather and more sunshine. Any early morning mist and fog patches should clear quickly. Bits of cloud developing especially through Wales and the Midlands later though these will not spoil the sunshine too much. Feeling pleasant in the sun with light winds for most. More cloud towards northwest Scotland. High temperatures range from 9 to 11 or 12C for most.
Outlook for February 29 - March 1
Dry and mild with sunshine, but a risk of early slight frosts. High pressure will be with us over the coming days and that brings lots of dry weather. There will be sunshine too although with clear skies overnight some slight frosts are likely. It won't be sunshine all the way through as weak fronts bring some broken cloud and a scattering of showers for some.
High pressure is centered to the east of the UK on Monday. A patchy frost is a possible first thing over northern England and southern Scotland in particular. Any early mist and fog patches burn off quickly. A southeast flow develops over southern areas and brings some clouds through Ireland and southwest England. Sunnier skies to the north and east. Mainly dry but some patchy rain may affect southern Ireland. Highs at 8 to 11C.
High pressure stays to the east on Tuesday with lower pressure west of Ireland. The day should be dry for many but with more clouds, although this will be broken allowing for some sunny spells. Some thicker clouds may affect southern and eastern Ireland, western Scotland, and western Wales with a risk of a few spots of drizzle here. Highs at 8 to 13C.

Freezing fog to engulf Britain as sub-zero blast returns
BBC Weather’s Owain Wyn Evans explained the UK will generally see bright sunny spells with clear skies over the weekend. While day temperatures remain around 10-12C, the UK will turn cold at night and in some parts below freezing. While parts of the country are enjoying blue skies, mist and fog are expected to come on Monday which will drop the temperature once more.
Wyn Evans said: “We're opening the curtains this morning and we're seeing plenty blue sky overhead and not wall to wall blue sky, however. Variable amounts of cloud bubbling up, a bit breezy across western parts of Scotland, much of England and Wales, and the northeast of Scotland. Dry and bright but thanks to that weather front, some patchy rain, and clouds into Northern Ireland or western parts of Scotland. 11 or 12 Celsius our top temperatures today everyone. Now as we look ahead through towards this evening, it's a very similar story quite similar to last night."
“Clear skies overhead for many of us, I think we'll tend to see more in the way of mist and fog patches forming, very difficult to pinpoint exactly where they'll be but I think southeastern parts of England rural parts potentially seeing these as well. And temperatures dip in close to, if not below freezing once more, probably not quite as chilly as last night but still quite cool up there tomorrow morning. So the mist and fog patches quite reluctant to clear many places I think today and tomorrow. Much of England and Wales and Scotland dry, we may see the odd shower across Northern Ireland, northwestern parts of England, and into the south of Scotland as well. Breezier along with southwestern coastal parts of England and Wales and the northwest of Scotland as well. But the air is spinning around the high pressure which is on top of it so for most of us those winds will be dry. And temperatures tomorrow I think quite similar to today, reaching between seven and 11C."
"Now on Sunday night and into Monday, we see the return of those dense mist and fog patches becoming more of a feature in fact, as we look a bit deeper into the crystal ball if you like. “Over the next couple of days, you can see the map turning grey. And I think our temperatures falling close to freezing looking a bit foggy first thing on Monday morning. But the high pressure is nearby staying there through towards the middle of next week.”
