UK and Europe Weather Forecast (Today Feb 21): UK temperatures soar to 17C, fine conditions across central Europe
UK's daily weather forecast
Tonight & February 21
Wet for many first things on Saturday but rain will soon clear much of Scotland and eastern England to allow for a dry rest of the morning with some sunny spells, best of these towards the far north. In the afternoon though, winds will strengthen and rain is expected to spread in from the west and southwest, turning heavy and persistent across parts of Wales, southern and western Scotland where localized flooding is possible. The southeast of England, including East Anglia, should remain dry, fine throughout, and feeling mild. Highs at 15C in the southeast, more generally 9 to 13C. Rain becoming isolated and patchy and eventually clearing from the south through the night with winds easing. The far northwest, however, seeing showers or longer spells of rain continue throughout. Through the early hours, some persistent yet generally lighter rain will push across southern and southeastern areas of England. Towards Lows at 5 to 9C.
A band of rain remains through central and southern England on Sunday, possibly turning heavy for some at times. Drier with some bright spells across East Anglia and South East England. Largely dry and fine elsewhere although some scattered showers are likely to blow in across southern and western parts of Scotland, Ireland, and Northern Ireland as well as western areas of Wales. Windy for the far north and far west. Highs at 14C in southeast England, mainly 9 to 12C elsewhere.
The UK is facing "extremes" this week, as the country expects its warmest weekend in several months, according to the latest BBC weather forecast. Parts of the country, predominately in the south-east, will experience soaring temperatures as Saharan winds drift in. However, other areas, including southern Wales, could see double a month's worth of rain within just 24 hours, sparking Met Office warnings. BBC meteorologist Tomasz Schafernaker told BBC Breakfast viewers that "it is looking a little mixed this weekend from one extreme to another". He said: "For some of us, it will end up being a pretty decent weekend - mild with sunshine. But for others, it is going to be a washout, at least today across some western parts of the UK. It is southern Wales that is bearing the brunt of these heavy rain clouds."
He continued: "In this rainfall accumulation map, you can see a striking difference between the west and the east. There is hardly any rainfall in the forecast for the east of the country, while across southern parts of Wales, there is up to 200mm of heavy rain is expected with some flooding."

Outlook for February 22 - 23
Generally, UK weather staying wet and windy but mild. Perhaps turning more settled towards the end of the week. Continuing with the unsettled weather through much of this week. Wind and rain expected to affect many with the north and west seeing at times high rainfall totals bringing the risk of some localized flooding. However, it will be reasonably mild with the south and southeast of England seeing considerably milder temperatures. There are signs of the high-pressure building at the end of the week and into the weekend.
A wet and windy day for much of Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Scotland. Gales affect exposed areas. Rain spreads into northwestern parts of England and Wales during the afternoon. A drier and generally brighter day to the southeast, but some low cloud, mist, and fog along southern coasts and hills. High temperatures at 9 to 13C.

Tending to be drier through the Midlands and eastern England although low cloud and drizzle affecting southern coasts. Brighter in northern Scotland. Highs at 9 to 15C.
