Top 8 New TV Shows and Movies on Netflix, Disney Plus, Hulu This Weekend
![]() |
Just when we thought the season of superhero mania was taking a drinks break after WandaVision reached its conclusion on Disney Plus, the world’s biggest streaming services have seen fit to blow the whistle on not one, but two major alien-bashing CGI fests this weekend.
If capes and shields aren’t your things, though, there’s plenty to keep you busy elsewhere, from new sports documentaries to acclaimed foreign dramas.
Below, we round up 8 of the biggest highlights coming to Netflix, Hulu and Disney Plus this weekend.

Invincible
![]() |
Episodes 1-3 start streaming Friday, March 27 on Amazon Prime Video
What if your dad was Superman and you inherited his powers? That’s basically the premise of Robert Kirkman’s Invincible comic books (Kirkman, of course, is well-known for co-creating The Walking Dead). Amazon’s animated adaptation features Walking Dead alum Steven Yeun voicing the role of Mark Grayson, a perfectly normal teen whose father Nolan (J.K. Simmons) is secretly the superhero Omni-Man. When Mark turns 17, though, he also gains abilities like flight, strength, speed, etc. Invincible comes across at first as a lighthearted superhero comedy but be prepared for a turn toward the dark side.
Solar Opposites season 2
![]() |
All 8 episodes start streaming Friday, March 26 on Hulu
The aliens of Solar Opposites are like a classic sitcom family, sort of. They try to learn a lesson at the end of each episode, but they’re also opportunistic jerks with access to all manner of overpowered sci-fi technology, so the path to learning is always paved with a lot of human corpses. They’re also very stupid aliens, so all they usually end up learning is that they’re stuck together on Earth. But they love each other …maybe? Kind of.
The premiere season saw the aliens wreaking havoc mostly within their own neighborhood. This time they’re ruining everything in different countries, bending the laws of nature, and even briefly threatening the fate of the entire planet. The first season was also gleefully ultraviolent and profane and that feels like it’s only been upped as well. There’s a charming, honest simplicity to how freely and gratuitously the unbleeped F-bombs drop in this show and season two only gets more charming and more honest. The violence also reaches inspired heights of grotesquery; two episodes in, Solar Opposites whips out one of its grossest and goriest ever sight gags, but it’s so bizarre and fluidly animated, one can’t help but be impressed, Denofgeek noted.
The Irregulars

All 8 episodes start streaming Friday, March 27 on Netflix
Can there ever be too much Sherlock Holmes content? Apparently not, if Netflix has anything to say about it. The streamer already had success with the Sherlock-adjacent movie centered on his teen sister, Enola Holmes. Now, it’s debuting a teen drama following a group of scrappy street urchins contracted by Dr. Watson (Royce Pierreson) to help solve crimes. Sherlock himself (Henry Lloyd Hughes) is a drug addict; unfortunately, he may be the Irregulars’ only chance at learning more about their pasts.
Bad Trip
![]() |
Starts streaming Friday, March 26 on Netflix
Strictly for devotees of degrading pranks and public humiliation, Kitao Sakurai’s “Bad Trip” — a “Jackass”-style road movie belching clouds of poor taste — follows two hapless dreamers from Florida to New York City.
Strapping squalid stunts on the back of a dopey narrative, this hidden-camera Netflix comedy sends Chris (Eric Andre, of the supremely weird “The Eric Andre Show”) and his friend Bud (Lil Rel Howery) on a cross-country quest for romance. Chris has learned that his onetime high-school crush (Michaela Conlin) is working in a Manhattan art gallery, and he plans to declare his still-fervent devotion, NYTimes cited.
John Wayne Gacy: Devil in Disguise
![]() |
All 6 episodes streaming now on Peacock
The true-crime genre is burgeoning with new entries every week, but what makes Peacock’s docu-series stand out is that it features never-before-seen interviews with the serial killer himself. If you don’t know of John Wayne Gacy, aka the Killer Clown, he terrorized Chicago in the ‘70s and killed 33 young men and boys. Some of his victims still remain unidentified, decades after he was executed. Devil in Disguise doesn’t just examine Gacy’s heinous acts, but how and why the system allowed him to get away with them for so long.
Baketopia

All 12 episodes streaming now on HBO Max
In case you need yet another baking show to add to your lineup, HBO Max now has Baketopia, a confectionary competition hosted by YouTuber Rosanna Pansino. Alongside her fellow judges, she’ll assess bakers’ creations for trendiness, creativity, and — of course — taste. Each episode features a “first-tier” mini-challenge with a prize of $1,000 and the opportunity to wear “the gold rolling pin,” as well as a “top tier” main challenge with a grand prize of $10,000. So there’s a lot of sugar and cash on the line.
Unlike The Great British Bake Off and similar shows, Baketopia features three new bakers per episode. There are 12 episodes in Season 1, which means a total of 36 contestants compete within the season. “Some of the competitors were home bakers, some own their own bakeries, and some were really fancy pastry chefs,” Pansino said in a YouTube video, according to Bustle.
Nailed It! season 5
![]() |
All episodes start streaming Friday, March 26 on Netflix
If you want even more baking action, but in the form of comic misadventures, Nailed It is back for a fifth season — with a twist. Called “Double Trouble,” the new episodes feature pairs of bakers attempting to recreate dessert masterpieces in a bid to win a $10,000 prize. Among season 5’s duos are actress Joey King (The Kissing Booth) and her sister. Host Nicole Byer will be giving commentary from the sidelines, as usual, and she may be even more hilarious than usual. As they say, too many cooks … you can apply that to bakers, too.
