Ring in the New Year in shorts and a tee shirt when you head to Honolulu, where fireworks burst over both Waikiki Beach and the Aloha Tower Marketplace. This is one of the best family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebrations in America and we suggest toting the kids along for an unforgettable vacation. The Kaka’ako Waterfront Park boasts something for everyone including carnival rides, a beer garden, food trucks, and multiple stages of entertainment to enjoy. Ringing in the new year Hawaiian style is a blast, so count on hitting the beach in the morning to cure that hangover. This is certainly the most tropical place to celebrate in the United States!

Vegas on New Years Eve is sure to be one heck of a party with over 300,000 fellow party-goers who descend on the city to take part in the festivities. The entire strip is shut down to vehicle traffic and transforms into one giant block party. At midnight the casinos launch a choreographed fireworks display that puts the Times Square ball drop to shame. Inside the club’s thump with the hottest entertainment and party-goers are dressed to the nines with everyone from average joes to celebrities dancing the night away. Just note that your Dry January commitment might start a little late if you celebrate here.

The peach drop is to Atlanta what the Times Square ball drop is to New York City, just on a smaller level. The 362-kilogram peach drops above Underground Atlanta, a downtown shopping and entertainment district, at midnight. The hours leading up to midnight feature local food and drinks, entertainers, DJs and live shows by big-name musicians. Best of all, admission is free. On a smaller scale, there are other great events in Atlanta, like neighborhood block parties and festivities at clubs and venues.

Trailing only one other city when it comes to safety and accessibility, Irvine rounds out the top five for 2020. Dubbed America's Safest City, Irvine boasts the lowest car theft rate of the 100 cities analyzed and also ranks number one for neighborhood security.
3. Fremont, California

Sandwiched between San Francisco and San Jose, Fremont is the top-ranking California city ahead of 2020's New Year's festivities, matching its fourth-place ranking with a fourth-best score for safety and accessibility. However, only 11 cities fare worse in terms of entertainment and food.
2. Nashville, Tennessee

Nashville hosts the annual New Year’s Eve celebration, Music City Midnight, which is complimentary and appropriately features great musicians; after all, this is Music City. Several major bands take to the stage before Nashville’s signature "Music Note Drop,” which triggers confetti cannons and a fireworks display. Elsewhere, many of Nashville’s best bars and venues, including the famous Ryman Auditorium, throw parties and events. For something smaller, M Street, which owns several beloved Nashville restaurants and bars, sells one New Year’s Eve ticket to four parties.

The lively coastal city ranks third overall in terms of safety and accessibility, including fourth-best nationwide for neighborhood security, WalletHub found. That was enough to overcome its 57th-place standing for entertainment and food. |
