Story 1: Who is really silly?

A teacher has just realized that one of his student is called stupid. During break time, the teacher asked other students the reason why.

The students said "He's a real fool. If we give him a big coin of 5 rupees and a small coin of 10 rupees, he will choose 5 rupees, because he thinks the bigger coin is better.”

“Teacher, look! A friend in the group is holding two coins and telling him to pick. And he still chooses the 5 rupees.”

The teacher surprisingly asked “Why did you choose 5 instead of 10?”

The boy said “Look, the 5 rupee coin is bigger.”

After class, the teacher told the boy: “You must understand that the 5 rupee coin is only bigger in size, but the 10 rupee coin can buy more things.”

The boy said “If I pick the 10 rupee coin, they won't give it to me next time.”

Lesson learned: You see that the boy seems silly but he is not really. It is often said that if you're a fool, you have nothing to fear. It's scary to be a dangerous person who pretends to be stupid. Don't look down on the other person. Because that person is not stupid as you think.

Story 2: The woodcutter and the scholar

A woodcutter and a scholar shared a boat in the river. The scholar claimed to have extensive knowledge, so he suggested playing a word guessing game to kill time. If he loses, he will give 10 coins to the woodcutter. If the woodcutter loses, he only needs to give the scholar 5 coins. The scholar accepts to lose more money to show his exceptional wisdom.

The woodcutter asked: "What is in the river weighing a thousand pounds, but when it comes to the shore, it only weighs ten pounds?". The scholar spent lots of time brainstorming but still can’t find the answer. He must give the woodcutter ten coins. Then he asked the woodcutter what the answer was.

"I don't know either!," the woodcutter gave the scholar five coins and added: "It's embarrassing. I've earned five coins." The scholar was shocked.

What is the lesson learned?

Many people show off their wisdom and look down on those who are less educated. However, their overconfidence will sometimes put them into weird situations. They do not know that those who are too smart will sometimes harm themselves because of their overconfidence. Don't be afraid of smart guys, be afraid of the fool who thinks he’s smart. And be a humble person worthy of respect. This short story teaches us the lesson of humility.

When I was about eight or nine, my mom burnt some toast. One night that stood out in my mind is when she had made dinner for us after a very long and rough day at work, She placed a plate of jam and extremely burned toast in front of my dad. Not slightly burnt but completely blackened toast.

I was just waiting to see if anyone noticed the burnt toast and would say anything. But Dad just ate his toast and asked me if I did my homework and how my day was. I don’t remember what I told him that night, but I do remember hearing my mom apologizing to dad for burning the toast. And I’ll never forget what he said:

“Sweetie, I love burned toast.”

Later that night, I went to tell my dad good night and ask him if he really liked his toast burned. He put his arm on my shoulder and said,

“Your momma put in a very long day at work today and she was very tired. And besides, a burnt toast never hurts anyone but you know what does? Harsh words!”

The he continued to say “You know, life is full of imperfect things and imperfect people I’m not the best at hardly anything, and I forget birthdays and anniversaries just like every other human. What I’ve learned over the years, is that learning to accept each other’s faults and choosing to celebrate each other’s differences, is one of the most important keys for creating a healthy, growing, and lasting relationship.

Lesson learned: You need to learn to empathize with the weaknesses and limitations of others. Sympathy with personality of every family member, friends, husband and wife will help you have a harmonious life.

Story 4: The King and his painful feet

Once upon a time, there was a king ruling a prosperous country. One day, the king went on a trip to the mountains. When he returned to the palace, the king complained that his feet were very painful because this was the first time he had to go on such a long journey and the road he walked on was very rough and rocky. Then the king ordered all roads in the country to be covered with leather. Thousands of cowhides worth a huge amount of money were needed.

Suddenly one day, the wife of the king's servant bravely asked: "Why are you spending such an unnecessary amount of money? Why don't you use a small piece of leather to cover your leg?"

The king was surprised, but then he agreed to make a pair of shoes.

Lesson learned: To have a happy life, it is better to change yourself, your thoughts, your heart – not to change the world. If you make changes, the whole world will change. Change yourself first, you will find this world is much more beautiful.

Story 5: Cackle

A wife is cooking in the kitchen while the husband is standing by and urging “Slow down! Be careful! The fire is so big! Hurry up! Flip the fish! Oh, too much oil!”

The wife said “I know how to cook!”

The husband said “Of course I know, honey. I just want you to know when I am driving, you are by my side talking non-stop. You understand how I feel, don’t you?”

Lesson learned: Learning to sympathize with others is not difficult. You need to look everything from the perspective of others, then you will see how they feel. Don’t rush to judge and conclude everything without understanding it. Sympathizing with others instead of complaining is the lesson learned from this short story.
