Erasmus Mundus Scholarships are open to masters and doctoral programmes, to students from within as well as outside of Europe. The scholarship will fully or partially support living expenses, tuition fees, insurance, travel expenses, etc. for students.

The Erasmus Mundus Scholarship consists of two main programs:

- Erasmus Mundus Joint Programs: take a master's course at two or more different universities.

- Erasmus Mundus partnerships: Study at partner schools in Europe with a wide range of disciplines and levels of study.

The goal of the program is to help excellent students study a collaborative Erasmus Mundus master's or doctoral course at two or more European universities (out of about 150 courses in total). Studying in one country and graduating in another country are one interrsting feature of Erasmus. The validity period of the scholarship lasts for each course varies from three months to three years.

Value of Scholarship: Erasmus Mundus is a full scholarship that covers full tuition fees and living expenses, insurance, and travel expenses. The scholarship value can be up to 24,000 euros/year for a master's course and from 60,000 to 130,000 euros for three years of a doctorate. In addition, you also receive some incentives from Erasmus partner schools. With Erasmus, you really get maximum support to comfortably study abroad without having to worry about financial problems.

2. British Chevening Scholarships (UK)

Chevening is the UK Government’s international awards scheme aimed at developing global leaders. The application period runs from August to November each year.

A full Chevening Scholarship normally* comprises:

• Payment of tuition fees (Chevening applies a tuition fee cap of £18,000 to MBA programmes - applicants will be expected to cover the remaining costs above the £18,000 cap);

• Economy travel to and from your country of residence by an approved route for you only;

• An arrival allowance;

• The cost of an entry clearance (visa) application for you only;

• A departure allowance;

• A contribution of up to £75 for TB testing, where this is required;

• A travel top-up allowance;

A monthly personal living allowance (stipend) to cover accommodation and living expenses. The monthly stipend will depend on whether you are studying inside or outside London. These rates are subject to annual review. Stipend payments will be made to you on or around the 21st of the month for the following full month. Where you arrive in the UK or leave the UK part way through the month, the stipend for that month will be adjusted as appropriate.

*In Taiwan and Singapore the Chevening scholarship only comprises tuition fees and one visa application.

3. DAAD Scholarships with Relevance to Developing Countries (Germany)

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) provides scholarships for a range of postgraduate courses with special relevance to developing countries at German Universities. The scholarships are specifically targeted to international students and young professionals from developing countries in Africa, Asia, Pacific Islands, Central and South America and Central and Eastern Europe. DAAD scholarship supports selected programmes with a variety of full or partial scholarships.

4. Holland Scholarships

The Holland Scholarship is meant for international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who want to do their bachelor’s or master’s in the Netherlands. This scholarship is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science as well as several Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences.

The scholarship amounts to € 5,000. You will receive this in the first year of your studies. Please note that this is not a full-tuition scholarship.

5. Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (Sweden)

The Swedish Institute provides scholarships in Sweden to highly-qualified international students from developing countries who wants to study at Sweden Universities. Scholarships are intended for studies in Sweden and focus mainly on master’s level. The scholarship covers tuition fee, living expenses, some travel grant, and insurance.

6. VLIR-UOS Scholarship Awards (Belgium)

VLIR-UOS awards scholarships to students from 54 developing countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America to pursue an English Taught Training or Master’s Programme related to development at Universities in Belgium. The scholarships cover tuition fee, accomodation, allowance, travel costs, and other program related costs.

7. Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme (France)

The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program was established by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to enable French higher education institutions to attract top foreign students to enroll in their masters and PhD programs.

It gives opportunity to the future foreign decision-makers of the private and public sectors, in priority areas of study, and encourages applicants up to 25 years old from developing countries at master’s level, and applicants up to 30 years old from developing and industrialized countries at PhD level.

8. Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for Foreign Students (Switzerland)

Each year the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries. Recipients are selected by the awarding body, the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS).

The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are aimed at young researchers from abroad who have completed a master’s degree or PhD and at foreign artists holding a bachelor’s degree.

9. Czech Republic Government Scholarship

The Government of the Czech Republic annually offers scholarships within its Foreign Development Cooperation. These so-called government scholarships support students from developing countries who would like to study at public universities in the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic provides scholarships for studies pursued both in the Czech language (in follow-up Master's and Doctoral study programmes) and in the English language (in follow-up Master's and Doctoral study programmes). Scholarships for studies in the Czech language are granted taking into account the list of recommended fields of study, updated according to the needs of specific countries, and also with regard to ongoing development cooperation projects.

10. Danish Government Scholarships for Non-EU/EEA Students (Denmark)

A number of scholarships are being offered each year by the Danish Ministry of Education to fund highly qualified and motivated international students from outside the EU/EEA who wish to pursue full degree higher education programme at participating Danish Universities. The scholarship can be given as full or partial tuition fee waivers and/or grants towards covering your living costs.

11. Italian Government Bursaries for Foreign Students (Italy)

Will I be able to work during my studies?

Many students work part-time whilst they study or during the university holidays to help support themselves financially. 12. Greek Government Scholarship

Scholarships will be granted by the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs to foreign nationals who wish to attend undergraduate or postgraduate studies in Greece’s Universities or a research in one of Greece’s Universities or Research Centres for the academic year , as well as summer seminar in Greek Language and Civilization

14. Ireland International Education Scholarships

Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships will be awarded to high calibre students from non-EU/EEA countries to study full-time in Ireland for a period of one year. Students who are successful will receive:

  • A €10,000 stipend for one year’s study
  • A full fee waiver of all tuition and other registration costs at the higher education institution

15. NORPART (Norway)

NORPART is developed on the basis of experience and models from other programmes that support institutional cooperation and mobility in higher education. The programme is funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and is administered by Diku - the Norwegian Agency for International Cooperation and Quality Enhancement in Higher Education.

Who can apply? The applicant must be an accredited Norwegian higher education institution. The application must include at least one partner that is an accredited higher education institution in one of the NORPART partner countries

Do I need a visa to study in Europe?

Almost every non- EU/EEA resident needs a visa when he or she wants to stay in Europe for a considerable period of time. Students are often required to apply for a student visa. The Gates Cambridge Scholarships are one of the most prestigious international scholarships in the world. Scholarships are awarded to outstanding applicants from countries outside the UK to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge.

A Gates Cambridge Scholarship covers the full cost of studying at Cambridge including tuition fees, maintenance allowance (£18,384 for 12 months at the 2022-23 rate), travel costs, visa, etc. It also provides additional, discretionary funding such as academic development funding, family allowance, fieldwork, etc.

Nuffic-funded scholarships for students from developing countries in Asia and Latin America, including China, Indonesia, South Korea, Mexico and Brazil, to study in the Netherlands.

In order to be eligible for OTS, candidates must:

• be citizens of one of the following countries; India or Indonesia;

• not have a degree from a Dutch education institution;

• not be currently studying or working in the Netherlands;

• currently be undergoing the admission process or be already admitted to a study programme

• or course at one of the Dutch higher education institutions participating in OTS.

20. ETH Zurich Excellence Masters Scholarship Program (Switzerland)

ETH Zurich supports excellent students wishing to pursue a Master’s degree at ETH with the Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme (ESOP).

The Excellence Scholarship/ESOP consists of a grant covering living and study expenses (CHF 12’000 per semester) as well as a tuition fee waiver. The scholarship is awarded for the regular duration of the Master’s programme (three or four semesters). This also applies for the tuition fee waiver.

Officially named as the Swiss Confederation, Switzerland is one of the wealthiest and most productive countries in the world. Although most Bachelor's programs are taught in one of the country's official languages, German, French or Italian, you may also study in Switzerland in English, since there is an increasing number of master's and PhD programs addressed to international students.

21. University of Bologna Study Grants for International Students (Italy)

The University of Bologna awards study grants and full tuition fee waivers to deserving international students who wish to register for First, Single, and Second Cycle Degree Programmes at the University of Bologna for A.Y. 2022/2023.

22. Lund University Global Scholarship Programme (Sweden)

The Lund University Global Scholarship programme is a selective, merit-based scholarship programme that recognizes top academic students from outside the European Union/European Economic Area (and Switzerland) who wish to apply for a Bachelor’s or Master’s Programme offered at Lund University. The scholarships may cover 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of the tuition fee. Please note that scholarships are toward tuition fees only and that living costs are not covered.

23. Sheffield Hallam University Transform Together Scholarships (UK)

Transform Together scholarships are open to international students and European Union (non-UK) students applying to a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate taught course at Sheffield Hallam University. Half fee waiver (50%) is available for postgraduate courses and for each year of an undergraduate degree.

24. University of Freiburg Scholarships (Germany)

25. University of Milan Itlay Scholarships (Italy)

The University of Milan is offering 155 Excellence Scholarships to International Students. Out of which 55 scholarships are fully funded and 100 scholarships are partially funded. The University of Milan offers its best new students “Excellence Scholarships”. For Undergraduates, and Graduate Students.

Although the expected level of command of English may vary depending on the school and, above all, the study program or course, the usual average English language requirement you will be required to have to study in Europe is 550 - 587 points (paper-based TOEFL test), or 213 - 240 points (computer-based TOEFL test), or 79 - 95 points (Internet-based TOEFL test), or 6.5 - 7.0 score in the IELTS test.

If you have not taken either the TOEFL or IELTS tests and you would like to prove your level of knowledge of English with other exams, you will need to prove you have a level of command of English corresponding to the B1/B2 level (intermediate) according to the European language passport.

26. University of Twente Scholarships (UTS)

University Twente Scholarships (UTS) offers 50 scholarships for excellent students from both EU/EEA and non-EU/EEA countries, applying for a graduate program (MSc) at the University of Twente.

27. Cambridge International Scholarships (UK)
