GAME released an estimated batch of 10,000-15,000 PS5s on Wednesday morning, one day after Argos and Amazon's new supplies were eagerly snapped up by fans.

However, fans encountered problems with the video game retailer's website throughout the day, complaining of ever-extending queues and the site crashing just as they got to the checkout before the stock ran out at around 3pm.

Another announcement at lunchtime that Curry's had released supplies of both the Digital and Disc Editions turned out to be a false alarm but still led to thousands of fans flocking to its website.

Thousands of gamers are still desperately trying to get hold of a PS5, going up against other fans and scalpers who have been infuriating fans by snapping up consoles and immediately reselling them for inflated prices.

However, the retailer has restocked the console once again, giving gamers a second chance to nab themselves one of these much-coveted machines.

A PS5 tracker wrote: "Tips for today’s #PS5 drop by GAME.

"Checkout with the guest account.

"Go for a bundle you think others won’t go for.

"Use multiple devices (smartphone, laptop) if you can.

"Have auto-fill enabled on your device

"Be ready on this page: Good luck all!"

The PS5 tracker has been one of the most widely followed during the shortage issue, which is caused by a global shortage of components. Sony has warned the shortages could last through 2021 and into 2022, leaving many customers deflated, said Birmingham Live.

And another wrote: "Or if any of you are still struggling with this then stick with Argos, Amazon or whatever because with mine every time I click on something it just sends me back to the ps5 section.

"So as much as I hate to admit this I’m not gonna grab the console from the game."

Another tip from a customer was: "Don’t make an account use guest check out, use auto-fill for your address and bank details I use chrome it allows you to with one press filling nth bank and address details."

OK, you've exhausted all of the online and brick-and-mortar retailers, and you've decided you're willing to pay upward of a $300 markup to get this puppy soon. As your friends, we have to tell you: Don't do it. But if you don't want to listen to us, you might want to check out StockX, an eBay alternative that made its name in the secondary market for sneakers and designer clothing. Last time we checked, prices for the PS5 were hovering just below $700.

If you've decided you simply can't wait another moment for Sony to get its act together and flood the market with inventory, eBay is a shortcut to getting your own PS5 right now. That said, let me reiterate our advice: No PS5 is worth spending hundreds over list price, and that's exactly what you'll have to do if you buy from an eBay reseller. The average PS5 price on eBay is about $900.

Another tipster, Ps5Instant, has also predicted Very and Curry's will release new supplies in the first week of March, followed by AI, ShopTo and John Lewis a week later although no date or time has been confirmed by either retailer, Mirror cites.

However, PS5StockAlertUK later tweeted to say: "By the way to clear this out the way, Very won’t be dropping this week, and Smyths Toys should be dropping this Friday/Saturday.

"Other retailers who haven’t dropped yet, or won’t drop tomorrow will probably drop next week."

Some desperate gamers are also being conned by social media fraudsters claiming to be selling the elusive console at retail price.
