Through the first four months of the year we’ve seen Gervonta Davis defeat Ryan Garcia in a fight that sold 1.2 million PPV, Amanda Serrao defeat Erika Cruiz, Tommy Fury defeat Jake Paul, Anthony Joshua defeat Jermaine Franklin, and much more. That being said, there are plenty of fights coming up this year that are sure to get fight fans hyped.

Below, we talk about several of those major fights that are expected to happen.

Unfortunately, one major bout that has been called off and won’t be discussed below is the rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. The two were set to meet on May 20 but Serrano has suffered an injury that has caused that date to be canceled. That being said, according to reports the two sides are still discussing looking for a possible date later on this year to have a rematch of their fantastic fight in 2022 at Madison Square Garden. Taylor will enter their eventual rematech with a 22-0 record while Serrano will boast a 44-2-1 record. If that fight is even half as good as the first, fans are in for a real treat.

Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz

This matchup slated for August 5 in Dallas almost hit a bit of a road block recently as Nate Diaz faces felony battery chargers in New Orleans that he plans on fighting. That being said, this flight is set to take place at 185 pounds and will be an eight round fight that will be distributed throughout the world by DAZN.

This is a highly anticipated fight. It will be Diaz’ first boxing match, but the 38-year old MMA fighter out of Stockton, California is 22-13 when it comes to MMA. He has been training his boxing his whole career with elite level boxers, training with the likes of Andre Ward and other professional boxers. Paul, on the other hand is 7-1 in his brief boxing career which includes four victories by knockout. He suffered his first loss via split decision against Tommy Fury earlier this year on February 26, Fury to date is the only professional boxer that Paul has faced in his career.. He has picked up wins in his career over Youtuber AnEsonGib, former NBA star Nate Robinson, former MMA stars in Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley.

David Benivdez vs Demetrious “Boo Boo” Andrade

One potential fight to keep a very close eye on is that of Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade vs David Benivdez. Andrade owns a 32-0 career record and is coming off a unanimous decision win over Demond Nicholson in Washington DC earlier this year. The current WBO middleweight champion has retained his title five times since winning it in 2018 in a fight over Walter Kautondokwa. Benivdez like Andrade would enter any fight undefeated as he just defeated Caleb Plant in an unanimous decision on March 25 to retain his WBC interim super middleweight title. Benivdez is 27-0 in his career. While this match is still likely a long way off, it is one we could see in the final months of 2023 as both fighters have publicly stated they would like to fight. Connor McGregor vs Michael Chandler

This megafight has even more intrigue behind it as McGregor and Chandler are also facing off in the “The Ultimate Fighter” reality show this year on ESPN and ESPN+ as coaches. Both fighters will take on a team of up and coming fighters and battle it out to see whose squad will come out on top. It’s expected that following the show, that the two will face off in a fight of their own.

McGregor, a former multi-time champion is 22-6 in his career with 19 of his 22 wins coming by knockout while Chandler would enter any possible fight with a 31-8 record though his wins have come in much more split ways including 11 knockouts, 7 submissions, and five decisions. The former collegiate wrestler is a three-time Bellator Lightweight Champion.

Canelo Alvarez vs John Ryder

This bout is just days away as it’s set to take place on May 6 at Estadio Akron in Guadalajara, Mexico. Alvarez is one of the most accomplished boxers of his time with WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, andThe Ring Super middleweight championships around his waist and a 52-2-2 record with 39 knockouts to go along with it. John Ryder, on the other hand has had an accomplished career of his own including being the WWBO interim super-middleweight title holder and entering the match with a 32-5 record. Each of Canelo’s middleweight titles will be on the line in this matchup as he looks to defend his home turf on Cinco de Mayo weekend which will have Mexcians and Canelo fans all watching in anticipation.

Devin Haney vs. Vasiliy Lomachenko

Another fight expected to take place just next month on May 20 is Devin Haney and Vasiliy Lomachenko.Haney has never lost, he’s considered the top lightweight boxer in the world and owns a 29-0 record including 15 knockout victories, He’s currently the WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring lightweight champion and will be defending all of his titles at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas against Lomachenko. While not undefeated, Lomanchenko holds quite the record of his own at 17-2 including 11 knockout wins. The two-time Olympic gold medalist is now looking to win back the WBA (Super), WBO, and The Ring lightweight titles he once owned before losing to Teofimo Lopez in October of 2020.
