When is the Starfield release date? Starfield is the first new Bethesda series in 25 years, but it’s likely it’s a long way off yet. Bethesda’s upcoming sci-fi game has finally been revealed, here’s all the latest news about the single-player RPG.

The release date hasn't been announced yet, and although we aren't expecting it soon, it must be creeping closer, according to PCGamer.

Back when Bethesda launched Fallout 76 in 2018, Todd Howard hinted to Gamespot that Starfield might not ship on the then current generation of consoles. We've officially arrived in next gen, which is now gen, so that's at least one caveat cleared.

Before E3 2019, Todd Howard cautioned during an interview with IGN that although Starfield is Bethesda's priority (rather than Elder Scrolls 6 which we are also eagerly awaiting) fans will need to be patient.

Is there an official Starfield trailer?

Starfield made its debut with a teaser trailer at Bethesda’s E3 showcase.

Bethesda has released a teaser trailer for the game that hints at the direction it might take. Other than that, there’s really not a vast amount of information about the game. But we’d done a little digging to see if we can find out more, so read on to for everything we know so far.

There’s no gameplay footage yet, but Howard has said that it goes a long way to establishing tone – so maybe play it a second time, close your eyes, and soak up the interstellar vibes, according to PCGAMES.

Unlike the swords and sorcery of Skyrim and the retro-future world of Fallout, Starfield is a spacefaring sci-fi game. And like a lot of sci-fi games and movies, Starfield is rather enigmatic - at least in its current form, reported by Tom's Guide.

Starfield is Bethesda's first original RPG in 25 years, and it's set in space. Almost three years after it was announced, that is still almost everything we know about the mysterious project that the studio has been talking about internally for a decade. There are a few minor details to be gleaned from comments Bethesda has made, and the teaser trailer that Bethesda put out at E3 in 2018. Other than that, we have little more than scattered comments from Todd Howard and a few leaked images that may be legit.

There's no sign the quoted sources are involved with Starfield, or even Bethesda, but Khan's evaluation of the pandemic on its own is likely enough to some to quash a recent rumor that Starfield could ship this year. That was itself a misinterpretation by Venture Beat, which claimed it was "probably 90%" sure the game would show at E3 2021. A statement about it possibly shipping in November was later corrected as speculation.

COVID-19 has had a low impact on small developers, many of whom were already working remotely. Big-budget studios with offices, hundreds of workers, and huge media assets have had to scramble to reorganize, and even still have found that they can't maintain the pace they're used to. Games like Gotham Knights and Gran Turismo 7 have already been pushed to 2022 or beyond, and it's likely that more 2021 game delays will follow. Bethesda is likely eager to avoid rushing Starfield considering the initial disasters of games like Cyberpunk 2077 and its own Fallout 76, and agreeing players likely aren't worried about the game hitting a presumed release window if it means it will be high-quality, according to ScreenRant.
