Sheffield United VS Leeds United- Premier League Matchday 30: Preview, Predictions and Betting Tips

Sheffield United players get a chance to rest ahead of the Easter Premier League showdown with Leeds United on Saturday, April 3 at Elland Road.

Sunday’s FA Cup exit at Chelsea means all the Blades have to look forward to are nine Premier League matches, at least seven behind closed doors, where the best they can probably hope for is to not to finish bottom, with four points to make up on West Bromwich but a huge 14 to safety, Yorkshire Post cites.

Some will be hoping for transfers to keep them in the division, others are out of contract, and as interim manager, Heckingbottom keeps stressing an as-yet-unknown new manager will certainly be watching closely, now or retrospectively.

After a traumatic 10 days which brought about the departure of Chris Wilder, not to mention an unforgiving fixture list, they need to freshen up mentally and physically first.

The problems are not going away, with Billy Sharp out for a couple of weeks with a thigh injury and Chris Basham pulled out the night before the Chelsea game after a kick in training failed to heal.

Sheffield United VS Leeds United: Predictions

It’ll be blood and thunder on Sunday afternoon as fierce rivals Sheffield United and Leeds United contest a Yorkshire derby at Bramall Lane.

This is the first time these two neighbors have faced each other in the top flight since March 1994 and although the fixture has been out of the Premier League limelight, it has still served up its fair share of drama and controversy over the years.

The Blades head into the clash on the back of two consecutive defeats to open the new Premier League season — losing 2-0 at home to Wolves and 1-0 away at Aston Villa — while they also crashed out of the EFL Cup at the hands of Burnley. Not the start they envisaged after finishing ninth in 2019/20.

Meanwhile, Marcelo Bielsa’s side will be puffing out their chests after beating Fulham 4-3 last time out to seal their first Premier League win in 16 years. Just rewards after their impressive performance in a 4-3 reverse against defending champions Liverpool on the opening weekend.

Meetings between these two have been tight in recent years, but always throw up plenty of talking points, so fasten your seatbelts.

Sheffield United VS Leeds United: Team Stats

Leeds has already scored seven goals — and conceded seven — in just two Premier League games so far this season, while Sheffield United is yet to get off the mark.

The Whites continuing their goal glut would go against the grain in this fixture, with just one goal separating these two in each of their last four meetings.

However, we do expect Bielsa’s side to beat Sheffield United for just the second time in six attempts here while, as always with these two, yellow and red cards should be on the menu.
