Brighton v Newcastle - 8pm KO, NOW via BT TV

It’s a relegation six-pointer on the south coast this weekend as struggling Newcastle travel to Brighton 24 hours after Fulham’s crucial showdown against Leeds.

The game may take on extra significance in the hours after the final whistle at Craven Cottage, with Newcastle in danger of slipping into the drop zone for the first time this season.

Since the turn of 2021, the visitors’ form has been utterly miserable; only Southampton have picked up fewer points in that time while the Magpies have won just two of their last 19 league games.

A dramatic 94th-minute equaliser from Jamal Lascelles – his second goal in two games – prevented Newcastle from slipping to another defeat against Aston Villa last time out, but with Fulham gaining momentum below them in the table, Steve Bruce needs to find a way to stop the rot.

Brighton would not be many Toon fans’ choice to face this weekend given their recent struggles against the Seagulls.

The home side are unbeaten against Newcastle in all seven of their Premier League meetings so far and thrashed the Toon 3-0 early this season.

Graham Potter’s men found the right moment to end their recent poor form last weekend, defeating Southampton to move three points clear of the drop with a game in hand over Fulham.

Brighton have passed the eye test this season for a side who deserve to stay in the top division, but results have not often followed.

Their profligacy in front of goal has been one of the main sources of frustration for Seagulls fans, highlighted by their top scorer Neal Maupay’s measly return of seven goals – only three more than second-top scorer and centre back Lewis Dunk.

A Newcastle team bereft of confidence and form should present Potter’s men with the perfect chance to make it back-to-back wins and move further clear of relegation danger.

West Ham v Arsenal - 3pm KO, NOW via BT TV

West Ham have settled into their status as this season’s dark horses nicely, creeping up to fifth in the table with ten games to go.

David Moyes may have begun the season as one of the early favourites in the sack race but he’s likely to end it in with a shout for manager of the year, such has been the impressive nature of West Ham’s turnaround in fortunes over the past year.

The Hammers have taken advantage of the chaos unfolding in the top six this season, quietly picking up points on a consistent basis thanks to a solid core of experienced performers.

Winger-turned-striker Michail Antonio – when fit – is a handful for any defence in the league and has found improved service during the current campaign thanks to the likes of Said Benhrama and Vladimir Coufal.

England man Declan Rice looks as though he has come of age, following in the footsteps of club captain Mark Noble as the team’s on-field leader and chief organiser, while the energetic Czech star Tomas Soucek continues to flourish in a box-to-box role like a prime Marouane Fellaini.

We should be set for a cracking London derby this weekend with West Ham coming into the game looking for a sixth win in seven home games against their bogey team in Arsenal.

The Gunners have had their east London rivals number for years, doing the Premier League double over West Ham 11 times – more than they have over any other team – while also picking up more away wins against the Hammers than against any other side (also 11).

Mikel Arteta will be desperate to ensure his side extend West Ham’s miserable run with a second London derby win in two games after victory over Spurs last time out.

The Gunners have won more points in London derbies than any other team this season, 14, and will hope Frenchman Alexander Lacazette can continue his good form against the Hammers to help pick up another three vital points.

The former Lyon man has scored four in his last five against West Ham and is the club’s top scorer with 10 this season, according to BT.

West Ham v Arsenal best bets and score prediction

  • 1pt on the West Ham to win 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1 at 3/1 (Sky Bet)
  • 0.25pt on Craig Dawson to score a header at 12/1 (Sky Bet)

Score prediction: West Ham 2-1 Arsenal (Sky Bet odds: 17/2)

Aston Villa v Tottenham- 7.30pm KO, NOW via BT TV

Two sides whose seasons have stalled in recent months meet at Villa Park when Aston Villa face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The home side are looking to regain some of their early-season momentum that saw them briefly dreaming of European football after impressive wins against the likes of Liverpool, Leicester and Arsenal.

Key man Jack Grealish’s recent injury woes have played a part in their downturn in results; the England playmaker is among the most influential figures in the Premier League and remains integral to Villa’s efficacy in the final third.

The 25-year-old has scored six and laid on 10 for his team-mates in 22 games so far this year – but as Villa fans will know, his influence carries far beyond attacking returns alone.

A lower leg injury combined with illness have kept him out of the last five games but Grealish look set to return this weekend against a team perennially linked with his services over the past few years.

Certainly, Grealish’s creativity would make him a valuable asset among a Tottenham side crying out for a supporting star to ease the burden on Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.

Mourinho’s Spurs have toiled and trundled along since the turn of the year, their brief title challenge having long gone up in smoke.

Now, the priority remains securing Champions League football for another season, whether that be via winning the Europa League or securing a top four finish.

The top four would likely be Mourinho’s preference but the Portuguese manager is staring down the barrel of one of the least successful seasons of his career.

Tottenham have lost nine games so far and the 58-year-old will be looking to avoid losing a 10th that would mark the most league defeats in a single campaign during his managerial career.

Spurs fans will be buoyed by the sight of Gareth Bale finally finding some fitness and form; the Welshman has four goals and two assists in his last five games and will be relishing a return to Villa Park.

The 31-year-old netted a hat-trick on his last appearance at the Midlands ground, helping Spurs to a 4-0 rout in December 2012.
