The draw for the quarter-final round of the Champions League was conducted at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland earlier today, with Chelsea drawn against Portuguese club FC Porto.

Porto vs Chelsea UEFA Champion League Quarter Finals: Preview

That is arguably the easiest option out of the eight quarter-finalists Porto. Although as history has proven, there are no easy ties in Champions League.

The first leg of the quarter-finals will be played on April 6th or 7th, with the reverse fixture being played a week later on April 13th or 14th. If Chelsea progress past Porto, the semi-finals against either Real Madrid or Liverpool will be played on April 27th or 28th, with the second leg set to May 4th or 5th, according to SB Nation .

Chelsea have played against Porto in eight matches in the Champions League with the Blues winning five times, losing twice and drawing once. Six of those matches were in Champions League group stages (2004-05, 2009-10 and 2015-16). Only once have Chelsea faced Porto in knockout stages and that was during the first Mourinho era, when we beat Porto 3-1 on aggregate in Round of 16 of 2006-07 Champions League.

The draw in full for the Champions League quarter-finals is as follows:

Manchester City v Borussia Dortmund

Porto v CHELSEA

Bayern v PSG

Real Madrid v Liverpool

Thomas Tuchel’s unbeaten Chelsea convincingly beat La Liga toppers Atlético Madrid 3-0 aggregate over two legs as the Blues reached Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in seven(!) years. Let’s hope this run continues!

Paris Saint-Germain (+500)

Liverpool (+650)

Chelsea (+800)

Real Madrid (+1100)

Borussia Dortmund (+1600)

Porto (+4000

Chelsea (5/1) will fancy their chances of going far in this year’s Champions League after beating Atletico Madrid in the last-16 and drawing 35/1 outsiders Porto in the quarter-finals. However, the Portuguese side beat Juventus in the round of 16 and should not be underestimated, said Telegraph.

Manchester City remain 2/1 favorites to win the trophy after comfortably beating Borussia Monchengladbach before drawing another Bundesliga opponent in Borussia Dortmund (25/1).

If City beat the Germans then they may face a third Bundesliga side in the semi-finals. Bayern Munich have drawn PSG (8/1) in the quarter-finals, with the winner playing either Dortmund or City. Reigning champions Bayern are 4/1 second favorites to win the competition after comfortably beating Lazio.

In the other quarter-final tie, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool (11/2) side face Real Madrid (10/1) in a very juicy clash with the Reds looking for payback after being beaten by the Spanish giants in the 2018 final. The winner of this tie will face either Chelsea or Porto for a place in this year’s final.

Chelsea are the third favorites to win the Champions League after being drawn to face Porto in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Manchester City remain favorites to win the competition for the first time after they were rewarded for beating Borussia Monchengladbach in the last 16 with a quarter-final tie against an inconsistent Borussia Dortmund side.

The two glamour ties in the last eight are a repeat of last season’s final between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain and a meeting between Real Madrid and Liverpool, who contested the 1981 and 2018 finals.
