PlayStation 5 restock: Time to buy today, Updates for Amazon, Target, Best Buy, GameStop

Now more than three months into the PS5's reign, it would be nice if major retailers had inventory, but unfortunately that's not the case. Right now the only consoles you can reliably buy are inflated at resellers like eBay and StockX, often selling at multiple times their retail value of $400 or $500. On eBay, for example, we've seen the PlayStation 5 priced well over $1,000. The console has been otherwise virtually impossible to find, with at least one person waiting in line for 36 hours to snag one at a California GameStop, Cnet reported.

These days, Twitter is a popular source to check for restock news, even though we're seeing fewer high-profile inventory drops. Instead, retailers seem to be shifting to a policy of smaller, more frequent drops that sell out rapidly and without much online fanfare.

The PS5 is available in two versions: There's a $500 model with a Blu-ray drive and an otherwise identical $400 digital-only version with no disc slot. At this point, people are happy to get their hands on either one, but if you don't have a library of optical discs -- for Blu-ray movies, used games or old PS4 games -- CNET recommends you go with the $400 version.

Updates on the restock at GAME

1. We've just got some more news about the next rumoured PS5 restock at GAME.

The @PS5Instant Twitter has been tweeting about the next GAME PS5 restock, and if you haven't managed to buy a PS5 yet it's good news.

The @PS5Instant Twitter posted: "March restock will be the biggest yet for all retailers. GAME has been adding bundles for a few days in anticipation for March 8th.

"Pre-orders will be released twice this week Tues 8am onwards. Use guest checkout!!"

2. It looks like the rumoured PS5 restock arriving at GAME this week will mainly be Disc consoles.

The @PS5StockAlertUK Twitter is the account which claimed GAME will be getting a PS5 restock on Tuesday February 23.

The account later went on to add that up to 15,000 PS5 consoles will be available to buy in this restock. And now the PS5 stock tracker account has given a bit more information.

The @PS5StockAlertUK Twitter recently posted: "Told you guys on the 19th that GAME will go live tomorrow (23rd). 80% of tomorrow’s drop will be Disc Edition with the remaining 20% to be Digital Edition consoles.

"There is no stock count this time, but tomorrow’s drop will be larger than the previous drop which was 10K. #PS5".

3. Ahead of the rumoured GAME PS5 restock tomorrow the retailer has once again updated its website.

As spotted by the @UKPS5Notify Twitter, GAME has updated the available purchases options to 44 - including the standalone PS5 Disc and PS5 Digital Edition consoles.

So there should be plenty of different purchase options available - including bundled-in games and subscriptions - for PS5 gamers to choose from before heading to checkout.

The @UKPS5NotifyTwitter posted: "[GAME #PS5 update] Good news: GAME's #PlayStation5 selection has increased to 44 options in including the standalone consoles. Bad news: T-shirts are back".

GAME could be getting more PS5 stock with the rumour mill claiming the retailer is about to open orders for Sony's PlayStation 5 console once again.

GAME has arguably been one of the best places to get a PS5 in recent months, with the retailer's online store having multiple PS5 restocks in January as well as a recent February PlayStation 5 restock.

These restocks invariably lasted longer than other UK stores who have been selling the PS5.

Amazon PS5 Restock

Following a limited restock earlier this month, the PlayStation 5 is now sold out on Amazon.

Both versions of the console are listed as "currently unavailable" on the website, along with a message stating that the seller does not yet know when or if the PS5 will be back in stock.

To keep track of updates, gamers should follow Twitter accounts such as @Wario64 and @GYXdeals, which often have insights on restocks. Amazon, unlike other retailers, does not usually announce stock drops ahead of time.

Antonline PS5 Restock

The PS5 is sold out at Antonline and there is as yet no indication of when the retailer will have more supplies.

Antonline has previously committed to making a limited number of next-gen consoles available every week and so far it has delivered more or less regularly on that promise.

Gamers should monitor the retailer's social media channels as Antonline tends to reveal its restocks on Twitter.

Best Buy PS5 Restock

The PlayStation 5 remains unavailable at Best Buy after the latest restock sold out earlier this month.

Best Buy is yet to announce when more units will arrive, but it's worth checking its website for updates.

Newegg PS5 Restock

Newegg is also out of PS5 and PS5 bundles, but registered members can sign up to be notified when the retailer makes more consoles available.

PS Direct PS5 Restock

Both versions of the PS5 are out of stock at PS Direct, after a restock earlier this month.

As with other retailers, it is worth following dedicated PS5 restock accounts on Twitter and turning on notifications.

Target PS5 Restock

Target restocked the PS5 Digital Edition last week, but the consoles swiftly sold out and are no longer available. The same applies to the Standard Edition, which has been out of stock since last month.

Before the consoles ran out, they were only available online, with drive-up or pick-up collection once the order had been placed. There was also a limit of one console per customer. Both conditions are likely to remain in place for future restocks.

Walmart PS5 Restock

Walmart made more consoles available at the beginning of February, but these sold out quickly and the PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition have been unavailable ever since.

The retailer has not yet announced when it will release more consoles.
