About 'Nadiya Bakes'
The Great British Baking Show has, over the course of 11 seasons, introduced dozens of lovable and talented UK home cooks to fans around the world. Its brightest star to date is 2015 champion Nadiya Hussain, a British Bangladeshi mother of three whose culinary skills and infectious enthusiasm have earned her a thriving career as an author and TV personality. That television work is finally starting to trickle across the Atlantic, via Baking Show‘s stateside platform Netflix. Last year we got the enjoyable Nadiya’s Time to Eat, but this past month brought an even more delightful sequel: Nadiya Bakes. In each of eight themed half-hours (“Savory Bakes,” “Baking on a Budget,” etc.) the ebullient Hussain keeps up a brisk pace, zooming through a handful of delicious-looking creations, with time left over to profile a relevant professional baker. If you don’t find at least one recipe per episode that you absolutely need to make, then baking will probably never be your thing. But, especially in these isolated times, the pleasure of Hussain’s upbeat company might be an even bigger draw, according to Time.
What Time Does 'Nadiya Bakes' Release On Netflix?
Netflix seems to have come prepared for Valentine's week with its back-to-back releases of romcoms and drool-worthy cookery shows. The Nadiya Bakes series also gets Valentine's release with its official premiere date being Friday, February 12, 2021. As seen from the trailer, Nadiya invites aspiring bakers to join her in learning a bunch of dessert recipes, starting from the simplest ones to the ones with gourmet stature. From fresh bread to baklavas and tiramisu, Nadiya is seen adding her magic touch to all the favourite dishes. A group of other pastry chefs and baker friends from around the world will also be joining Nadiya to showcase their special treats and teach them to the world.
"There will be bakes for every occasion," Nadiya promised in the trailer. Many fans have since celebrated her comeback and appreciated her journey from being a stay-at-home mother to now being a household name across the world. Apart from starring in an array of cookery projects, Nadiya has also invested in writing a memoir called Finding My Voice where she let fans in on the memories and experiences that have shaped her into being the role-model that she is today. Her docuseries called The Chronicles of Nadiya had also become the talk of the town upon release, as reported by Republicworld.
Cookbooks on Netflix
'Nadiya Bakes,' $40.77 ($14.99 Kindle)
Yes, this is Nadiya returning to her roots—and baking up a storm. From classic recipes like strawberry and clotted cream shortcakes (a twist on the very British, very fattening cream tea served with scones in southwest England) and cheats sourdough to the more adventurous twists like the spiced squash strudel, this book will keep you coming back for more. And best of all, these recipes are simple and effective, as well as heartwarming.
'Nadiya’s Family Favourites,' $33.63 ($15.22 Kindle)
Yeah, Covid has been tough for the family chef. And if you’re like us, you’ll take all the help you can get. Thankfully, this cookbook is packed full of over 100 crowd pleasing recipes to benefit home chefs trying to please a full house, three meals a day, seven days a week (plus snacks). The no-cook avocado pasta with peas and mint plays perfectly simple but if you’re willing to get daring, you can try the halloumi curry served with coconut sambal. Again, simplicity is key here, but you can impress everyone with the big flavors.
