MYTHIC QUEST SEASON 2 WAS CONFIRMED before the pilot ever aired.
In the latest issue of Production Weekly, a trade magazine that lists in-development shows and movies, we learn what may be the official title of Mythic Quest Season 2. Goodbye "Raven's Banquet." Hello "TITAN'S RIFT."
What does the Mythic Quest Season 2 title reveal? It's difficult to say. While Mythic Quest is the name of both the show and the fictional online video game at its center, "Raven's Banquet" was the title of a major expansion to that game released during the show's first season. In that sense, it seems safe to assume that "Titan's Rift" will be a similar expansion that occupies much of the characters' time in Season 2.
The word "rift" also brings its own implications. The geological definition of "rift" would suggest a significant change to the game's map, which is often a big deal in real video games. Of course, there's also the Oculus Rift, and if we follow that meaning then perhaps Mythic Quest Season 2 will focus on the effort to bring the game into virtual reality, according to Inverse.
Mythic Quest Season 2 Release Date
The second season of Mythic Quest is almost upon us. Apple has released a trailer for the TV+ comedy, giving us a glimpse of what Poppy, Ian and the rest of the team are up to. We once described the show as Silicon Valley for game devs, which tells the story of a gaming studio behind an incredibly popular MMO.
In the first season, we followed the team as they released a major expansion for their game entitled Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet. The second season takes place after the quarantine lifts and everyone goes back to the office to figure out how to build upon the success of the expansion, tackling their struggles with the game's direction. It also explores some characters' past unresolved issues and office romance.
The show was created by the same minds behind It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and co-produced by Ubisoft. Production for season 2 was stalled a couple of times last year after crew members tested positive for COVID-19, but now the show is ready for release. Mythic Quest season 2 is hitting the Apple TV+ subscription service on May 7th, Engadget reported.
Who's in the cast for Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet season 2?

Mythic Quest assembled a stellar comedic cast for its first season, and audiences should expect all of the main cast to come back. McElhenney isn't the only Always Sunny alumni making an appearance on the show, as David Hornsby, better known as Rickety Cricket, also shows up as uptight executive producer David Brittlesbee. Other actors set to return include Danny Pudi (Community), Charlotte Nicdao (Thor: Ragnarok), F. Murray Abraham (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Ashly Burch (Critical Role), and Imani Hakim (Everybody Hates Chris).
The trailer also indicates there will be a very special guest star on at least one episode of the upcoming season. There's a brief clip where we see Snoop Dogg wearing a motion capture suit, likely for a character for the upcoming expansion Ian and the team come up with next. Snoop Dogg's no stranger to the world of video games, lending his likeness to numerous properties over the years, such as True Crime: Streets of LA and NHL 20. It looks like the show will pay a nod to a side of the rapper's resume some people may not be aware of.
What's the plot for Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet season 2?
Season 1 of Mythic Quest ended with Ian promoting Poppy to be his new co-creative director. While it finally provides her with some of the recognition she craved all season long, it's unlikely that'll be the end of their problems with one another. This is demonstrated in the trailer, which opens with a scene of the two trying to decide what the new expansion pack should be about, and Ian leaves before they make any headway.
It brings up another interesting question. Mythic Quest season 1 was subtitled "Raven's Banquet" because that was the name of the newest project in the show's universe. If they come up with another expansion pack, then is it possible season 2 of Mythic Quest would have something different to add to the title? At one point in the trailer, there's a whiteboard with various names, and it appears as though "Sea of Nails" won out, but then again, that could just be a red herring.
Whatever the next season ends up being called, you can bet plenty of people will be tuning in to see more video game hijinks. As for now, you know where to be on May 7: on your couch with Mythic Quest cued up on the TV, Looper cited.
Mythic Quest season new trailer
Apple released a new trailer for Mythic Quest’s second season on Monday ahead of its May 7th debut. The trailer doesn’t feature many specific plot points, though it looks like we’ll be seeing how Ian Grimm (Rob McElhenney) and Poppy Li (Charlotte Nicdao) work together on a new expansion now that they’re co-creative directors on the fictional game. Things between them seem good, at least at the beginning.
The trailer also features Snoop Dogg (who does play video games IRL), who asks Grimm where the game’s next expansion is. He also made an appearance in a motion-capture suit in the season 2 teaser trailer, so here’s hoping he has a notable role of some kind, Theverge wrote.
Snoop Dogg in the new trailer for season 2 of ‘Mythic Quest’
The new trailer reveals that Snoop Dogg will guest in season two, as will comedian, actor and Drunk History creator Derek Waters.
A synopsis of the show from Apple TV+ read: “Mythic Quest follows the team behind the biggest multiplayer video game of all time.
“Season two finds everyone back in the office (well, almost everyone), attempting to build upon the success of Raven’s Banquet by launching an epic new expansion, but Ian (Rob McElhenney) and the newly promoted co-creative director, Poppy (Charlotte Nicdao), struggle with the game’s direction.
“Meanwhile, C.W. (F. Murray Abraham) reconciles some unresolved issues from his past, the testers (Ashly Burch and Imani Hakim) test the bounds of an office romance, and David (David Hornsby) loses yet another woman in his life as Jo (Jessie Ennis) leaves him to assist Brad (Danny Pudi).
“The second season will also feature ensemble cast members Naomi Ekperigin, Caitlin McGee, Humphrey Ker, Chris Naoki Lee and Jonathan Wiggs.”
NME spoke to McElhenney last May about his new show and suggestd that the respected but behind-doors status of video games developers lends itself to a solid comic premise. “Exactly. There’s something silly about that but there’s also something truthful about it,” McElhenney responded.
“You’ve got these virtual worlds where people from all over the globe are coming to commune and play and experience that world. But it’s still a world that was built by other human beings and so why not explore that? And we do that by showing you the world through the lens of this one particular narcissist – my character, Ian – who believes he’s Zeus.”
Mythic Quest special episode premieres Friday on Apple TV+Surprise! A month before Season 2 premieres in May, Mythic Quest -- the video game workplace comedy from It's Always Sunny's Rob McElhenney -- is dropping a special bonus episode guest starring Sir Anthony Hopkins. The current Oscar nominee lends his voice to "Everlight," a new episode about the gang's annual LARPing tournament. The special will also deal with the struggle of returning to "normal" life after the pandemic. Mythic Quest's quarantine special was one of TV's only good Zoom experiments last year, so it should be up to the challenge, according to Tvguide. |
