Italy cruised through all 10 of their qualifiers to reach Euro 2020 – winning every game, in a memorable campaign for Roberto Mancini’s side. The Azzurri’s will want to make their mark this summer having missed out on the World Cup in 2018. Italy’s run of 10 wins in qualifying was achieved by scoring 37 goals, with the most notable results being the 9-1 vs Armenia and a 3-0 away win in Bosnia. Andrea Belotti was Italy’s top goalscorer in qualifying and he’s expected to be the focal threat once again this summer.

Switzerland have been a regular at international tournaments in a run stretching back to 2006, but in that time they have never advanced beyond the last 16. Manager Vladimir Petković will expect his Swiss stars to navigate some tricky looking fixtures, with the clash at the Stadio Olimpico looking the toughest of all. The Swiss ultimately topped their qualifying group, ahead of Denmark and Ireland – losing just the once. Two convincing wins over Gibraltar en route to Euro 2020 saw Switzerland bloat their goal difference by +10.

Italy has a formidable record against Switzerland – the Azzurri have triumphed 28 times, drawing 22 and losing just seven, with a goal difference of +41. The Swiss can take heart that the last five meetings have returned four draws, but the most recent of them was 10 years ago in 2010.

Italy’s stats in qualifying were ranked second overall, with the Azzurri scoring 37 goals in 10 games – an average of 3.70 goals per match, conceding an average of just 0.4 goals each time, with an incredible 90% passing accuracy. Switzerland’s averages weren’t that far behind, considering they played two games less than their opponents in qualifying, scoring 19 times in eight, averaging an impressive 2.38 goals and 86% passing accuracy.
