India's Weather forecast for January 31

During the last 24 hours, rain and thundershower occurred at many places over Odisha. Rain occurred at few places over Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Light rain occurred over isolated pockets of West Bengal. Cold wave continued over Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, parts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat. Isolated pockets of Rajasthan and Gujarat also witnessed severe cold wave conditions. Dense to very dense fog was witnessed over Sikkim, parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and isolated pockets of Punjab. Ground Frost also occurred over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.

During the next 24 hours, isolated light rain may occur over parts of Chhattisgarh, coastal Odisha, north coastal Andhra Pradesh, east Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, parts of Andaman and Nicobar Island, and South Tamil Nadu. According to Skymet, light rain may commence over Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and isolated pockets of Ladakh. Cold wave conditions are expected to continue over Punjab, Haryana, part of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and isolated pockets of Gujarat. Ground frost will continue over Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, parts of Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.

Weather Online predicts scattered rains and thundershowers have been forecast over Arunachal Pradesh. Snow may mix in some of these areas. Isolated rain with lightning is possible over Assam, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. Cold wave conditions are expected in isolated pockets of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Chandigarh. Very dense fog is on the cards for some areas of Uttar Pradesh. Dense fog in morning hours has been predicted in isolated pockets of Odisha, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Chandigarh. Ground frost conditions are likely in isolated places of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Chandigarh.

Also on Sunday, isolated snow is likely over Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Arunachal Pradesh. Isolated rain is possible over Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Cold wave conditions are in the forecast for isolated pockets across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Chandigarh. Dense fog in morning hours has been predicted in isolated pockets of Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Chandigarh

5-Day Nationwide Weather Forecast

A cyclonic circulation is set to bring scattered snow/rain accompanied by thunderstorms over Arunachal Pradesh and adjoining areas on Saturday before the system moves eastward and gets subdued from early Sunday onwards. A fresh western disturbance is also likely to affect North India from Sunday night, thereby causing snowfall activity in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

Cold Northerly flows are expected to trigger cold wave conditions over much of North, Central India as well as some places of Eastern India. These trends will persist over Eastern India for a while but gradually ease in other regions from Sunday onwards.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are on the cards for isolated/some/many pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh during the next two days, and they will decrease in spatial distribution and intensity thereafter. Cold wave conditions are also expected in isolated pockets of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Uttarakhand, and Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours, and over Bihar between Jan 31 and Feb 3.

Moreover, cold day to severe cold day conditions has been predicted in isolated/some/many pockets of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during the next five days, and Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours. Ground frost conditions are also possible in some plane areas of North India on Saturday morning. Further, moderate to dense fog during morning periods have also been forecast at isolated places of Gangetic plains and the semi-arid region for the next couple of days. Very dense fog is especially likely to appear in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.
