India's Weather forecast for February 20

Parts of Maharashtra, including state capital Mumbai, experienced unseasonal rains along with thunderstorms and strong winds on Thursday, February 18. Similar conditions are likely to persist, particularly over Central Maharashtra, on Friday, February 19 as well. Light showers and strong winds caught Mumbaikars by surprise on Thursday evening, as these conditions visited several parts of the metropolitan city, including Andheri, Bandra, Dahisar, Malad, and its adjoining areas like Vashi and Kamothe, reports The Times of India.

IMD Mumbai has also forecast thunderstorms and lighting over the districts of Nashik, Ahmednagar, Pune, Satara, Aurangabad, Jalna, and Beed, along with light to moderate showers over Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal. The districts of Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Sangli, Solapur, Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, and Osmanabad may also experience wet conditions.

Scattered snow or rain and thunderstorms are likely over Arunachal Pradesh. Scattered rain and thunderstorms are possible over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Isolated rain and thunderstorms are expected over Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Lakshadweep Dense to very dense fog is likely over isolated places of Punjab. Dense fog is predicted at isolated places over Uttar Pradesh.

Fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms are likely over Tamil Nadu. Scattered snow or rain and thunderstorms are possible over Ladakh. Scattered rain and thunderstorms are likely over Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Isolated snow or rain and thunderstorms are expected over Jammu & Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh. Isolated rain and thunderstorms are likely over Kerala. Dense fog is predicted at isolated places over Punjab, said The Weather Channel.

5-Day Nationwide Weather Forecast

Parts of central and south India are expected to experience wet weather conditions for the next 24 hours. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a strong wind discontinuity in the lower levels over central India with moisture inflow from the Bay of Bengal. It is likely to move southwestward and persist during the next 24 hours. Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall is possible at isolated places of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, and interior Karnataka during the next 24 hours. These aforementioned places are also likely to experience isolated thunderstorms and lightning along with rain in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, dense fog can be seen in some pockets of Punjab in the morning hours of Friday and Saturday. Dense fog is also expected in isolated pockets Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi in the morning hours of February 20. In northeast India, Arunachal Pradesh is likely to experience isolated snow due to the presence of feeble but persistent cyclonic circulation until Saturday.

Furthermore, a fresh western disturbance will impact the western Himalayan region from Saturday starting with isolated snow in Ladakh. Adjoining Jammu & Kashmir will also receive snow or rain from Sunday. This event is forecast to continue until the middle of the next week with some increase in intensity. Maximum temperatures will be 4°C to 8°C below than normal across much of Maharashtra and Telangana on Friday. South Andhra Pradesh will also see lower maximums this weekend. Meanwhile, higher maximum temperatures are likely across north India during this forecast period. Warmer night temperatures are expected to continue over the plains of north India during the next 3-4 days. Minimum temperatures will be warmer than normal across much of the country during this forecast period.
