The Cottagers are so far the worst team in the whole competition, and they are placed dead last in the table at the moment. It really was no surprise though, as they had been promoted to the top flight just at the end of the last season. Photo: Youtube

Fulham vs Wolverhampton: Preview

Fulham will be hoping to pick up their first points of the new Championship season on Wednesday night when they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Craven Cottage, according to Sport Moles.co.uk.

Felix Magath's side are already under pressure after losing their opening two games of the campaign.

Their most recent defeat was a 1-0 loss at home to Millwall on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Wolves have enjoyed a decent start on their return to the second tier, taking three points from their first two matches.

Victory for Kenny Jackett's team in West London would see them leap into the top half of the table.

Ross McCormack is expected to start for Fulham after being dropped to the bench for their defeat to Millwall, but fellow forward Adam Taggart misses out with an ankle injury. Wolves have no fresh injury concerns heading into the match.

4 May 2019 — Wolves 1-0 Fulham

26 December 2018 — Fulham 1-1 Wolves

24 February 2018 — Fulham 2-0 Wolves

3 November 2017 — Wolves 2-0 Fulham

18 March 2017 — Fulham 1-3 Wolves

Regardless of which division they’re played in, games between Wolves and Fulham have generally been closely fought battles, with two or fewer goals separating the sides in each of their last seven meetings.

Wolves have only lost one of their last nine games against the Cottagers and we expect both of those trends to continue here.

A Look At Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Betting Odds

Wolves had beaten West Ham in all four of their previous meetings since securing promotion but put in a strangely subdued display when going down 4-0 at London Stadium, according to Sports Bwin.

Nuno Espirito Santo had no excuses and declared: “It was a very bad performance, a bad game.

“We were losing duels and offensively we didn’t create. Every time West Ham attacked, it was a chance of a goal.

“It’s part of the job, we have to go and work harder to find a solution.

“The players must bounce back and react to it. It’s about improving what we want to do. It’s about improving the players.”

Wolves began the current campaign with a fine 2-0 win at Sheffield United and put in a spirited second-half performance when losing 3-1 to Manchester City.

Wanderers were ultra-reliable when facing struggling sides at Molineux last term, beating six of the bottom seven and drawing with Brighton here.

They kept clean sheets in all but one of those matches and 6/5 for a home win to nil has obvious appeal from the Wolves vs Fulham odds.

Last Wolves line-up: Rui Patricio, Boly, Coady, Semedo, Vinagre, Neves, Saiss, Moutinho, Neto, Jimenez, Traore.

A Look At Fulham’s Betting Odds

Fulham are again finding life at the top level extremely tough, with a 3-0 home loss to Aston Villa making it 10 goals conceded in a trio of league defeats.

Scott Parker admitted: “I think in terms of defending, we weren’t good enough and we’ve not been good enough for the first three games this season.

“We need to address that, I think we all know we need to address that. It was an area we’ve certainly brought up.

“I thought we played very, very well for large parts, but the first time they came into our box they scored.

“Then the second time they scored another goal and you just can’t give up goals like we have and expect to win games in this division.”

The Cottagers have since signed former Charlton and Everton forward Ademola Lookman on a season-long loan deal from RB Leipzig.

However, the search for defensive reinforcements goes on and Wolves look well capable of becoming the latest team to exploit obvious issues at the back.

Let’s add 12/1 for Raul Jimenez to score first in a 2-0 home victory to our Wolves vs Fulham betting tips.

Last Fulham EPL line-up: Areola, Tete, Hector, Odoi, Ream, Bryan, Cairney, Zambo, Mitrovic, Reid, Cavaleiro.

Fulham's additional stats

Fulham will be keen to register their first points of the new Premier League season when they travel to Wolves on Sunday afternoon.

After earning promotion from the Championship via the playoffs, the Cottagers have fallen to three defeats to open the 2020/21 campaign, conceding a massive 10 goals along the way — only West Brom (11) have allowed more.

Although highly fancied to challenge for European places this season, Wolves haven’t made the best start to the season, either, taking just three points from their opening three games and falling to a resounding 4-0 defeat against West Ham United in their last match.

Both Scott Parker and Nuno Espirito Santo will demand immediate improvement from their players, and this has the potential to be a genuinely entertaining encounter, Squawka said.

As was the case the last time Fulham was in the Premier League, it’s been a case of defensive struggles so far this season, with Parker’s men unable to get to grips with the superior attacking talent on show in the top flight.

In Raul Jimenez, the Cottagers are coming up against a man on a mission who has been unfortunate enough to score an own goal during the Wolves’ 4-0 defeat to West Ham. Don’t let that fool you, though, the Mexican is second only to Mohamed Salah (129) in terms of shots in the Premier League since the start of last season. He already has two this campaign and will be sizing up that brittle Fulham defense.
