"Fruits Basket" has been one of the reasons anime lovers look forward to summer.
The fantastic reboot by TMS Entertainment and Funimation first aired in 2019 and has since gained more popularity than the first anime series that aired back in 2001.
'Fruits Basket' has gripped the audience with its intricate plot laced with overwhelming emotions that's too powerful to ignore.

'Fruits Basket' season 3 will debut on April 5th in Japan. The 'Fruits Basket' season 1 and season 2 both released in March (2019 and 2020, respectively). Without the pandemic, we would be expecting the third season to drop around the same month this year. We were already open to the possibility to the third installment getting delayed. Luckily, we didn't have to wait too long to see season 3.
Fruits Basket Season 3 Episode 1 will air on Tuesday, the 6th of April 2021 in Japan, which translates to Monday the 5th of April for several other timezones. So far, the show's timeline looks very similar to that of the two previous seasons'. Now it only remains to see if the Final Season will follow the previous two in having 25 episodes.
The Plot: What Will Happen In 'Fruits Basket' Season 3?
'Fruits Basket' follows a plucky orphan named Tohru Honda, who finds herself entangled with the Sohma family.
The mysterious family hides a big secret: certain members of the family are cursed to turn into animals of the zodiac when hugged by the opposite sex. The Sohmas bow down to the mysterious family head, Akito.

Tohru discovers the family's secret in the first episode of the series, and thus begin the epic and moving adventures centered around forming meaningful relationships.
'Fruits Basket' season 2 ended with a couple of bombshells. After receiving the DVD of the school play from Momiji, Kureno decided to reveal his biggest secret. He is the Rooster of the zodiac, but we've never seen him in his avian form before.
He confessed twice, first on the phone to Shigure and then in person with Tohru. Kureno hugged Tohru in the park but didn't transform! It turns out his curse has broken, but he has no clue why.
While this could call for a celebration, Kureno can't help but admit that he felt mixed emotions. He is glad that he could finally be human but is also miserable that he could never fly again.
We are expecting more revelations as the anime series wraps up in season 3. Will the Sohmas figure out the cure to the curse? And if they do, would they be willing to take it? Or would they have mixed emotions just as Kureno did?

Is Fruits Basket Season 3 Simulcast on Crunchyroll?
Crunchyroll is your go-to if you're going to watch Fruits Basket Seasons 3 in Japanese with English subtitles. The TMS Entertainment show is licensed by both Crunchyroll and Funimation and will be Simulcast in both.
The first two seasons were similarly simulcast and are currently available on Funimation in their entirety. For the third season, premium Crunchyroll users will get to watch episodes as they come out. A Crunchyroll subscription starts from $7.99 monthly. You can start a 14-day free trial first, to decide if it's for you.
Non-premium users can still watch Fruits Basket on Crunchyroll, but they will have to wait longer for new episodes and there will be ads.
Is Fruits Basket Season 3 Simulcast on Hulu?
We have both good and bad news here. The good news? Yes, Fruits Basket Seasons 1 and 2 are on Hulu, and the same will be true for the Final - eventually. The bad news? It won't be Simulcast. This means that there won't be new episodes weekly, as is the case with anime-only streaming services.
When the first two seasons were still airing, Hulu didn't offer same-day streaming. Rather, the seasons became available in their entirety shortly after they finished airing. Judging from the previous seasons, the Final will most likely finish airing in September and join the anime library of Hulu a few months after that.
Meanwhile, if Hulu is your streaming platform of choice, you can check out some currently ongoing anime such as Mushoku Tensei and The Promised Neverland Season 2.
Is Fruits Basket Season 3 Simulcast on Netflix?
Unfortunately, the first two seasons of Fruits Basket aren't on Netflix at all, so season 3 won't be on the popular streaming service either. Netflix in the US and Europe offers shows that have finished airing, rather than ongoing works.
Of course, since Fruits Basket has found a home in many other streaming services, it might not make it to Netflix even after Season 3 is completed - though of course, it wouldn't be impossible.
Meanwhile, Beastars Season 2 is currently airing on Netflix Japan and will hit American Netflix this July.
Is Fruits Basket Season 3 Simulcast on Funimation?
Fruits Basket Season 3 is licensed by both Funimation and Crunchyroll. As such, it's available on both. Rather than offering a Simulcast, like Crunchyroll, Funimation will offer a SimulDub instead. This means that the newest episodes will be dubbed, rather than originals with subtitles and they will become available at the same time as the original or very shortly after.
Premium Funimation users will be able to stream episodes immediately when they are released. Non-premium users will be able to watch the newest Fruits Basket episodes a week after release but there will still be some ads.
If you're unsure about the paid plans of Funimation, you can try the 14-day free trial and see if it suits you. Paid plans start from $5.99 per month.
Fruits Basket is a heartfelt, moving anime, totally worth watching. Thaknkfully, it's available in many venues, so you're bound to find the right one for you.
Another highly anticipated anime of the Spring 2021 season is My Hero Academia Season 5.
