Some detailed information of new coming games in April

Outriders

Bulletstorm developer People Can Fly has partnered with Square Enix to release Outriders, an upcoming action-RPG shooter designed with co-op in mind.

In it, you control a space marine who acquires special powers that they combine with an arsenal of guns to survive on a hostile alien planet while pursuing a mysterious signal.

While the game clearly draws inspiration from other co-op games like Destiny and The Division, the developer maintains Outriders is not a live service game and will have a clear start and finish.

With that said, there’s no denying the game’s looter shooter appeal, which lends itself to replayability and cooperative gameplay.

Guilty Gear Strive

The next entry in Arc System Works cel-shaded fighter is expected to release at some point this year and aims to deliver the biggest and best Guilty Gear experience by far.

Guilty Gear Strive sees the return of fan favorites like Sol Badguy, May, and Ky Kiske in addition to series newcomers, including a mysteriously unknown samurai.

The game is a continuation of Arc System Works’ commitment to flashy combat and gorgeous 2.5D graphics that utilize dynamic camera angles.

From a gameplay perspective, Strive looks to offer the smoothest battling experience to date with new combos and more fluid stage transitions than previous entries.

Humankind

Coming from indie dev Amplitude Studios, Humankind is a 4X strategy game that sees you rewriting history by establishing unique civilizations based on 60 historical periods, starting with the Bronze Age through to the modern era.

Players will be able to influence societies by making tough moral decisions, reacting to historical events, and spearheading scientific breakthroughs.

The game shares some obvious similarities with the Civilization series, but we can’t exactly blame it.

The Sid Meier games have dominated the 4x turn-based strategy subgenre for almost 30 years, so you could say fans are overdue a worthy alternative.

New Pokémon Snap

During a recent Pokémon presentation, the company announced that a remake of Pokémon Snap is currently in development at Bandai Namco Studios.

Aptly named New Pokémon Snap, the remake will see players donning their cameras once again and visit new islands where Pokémon roam freely.

You’ll be able to photograph Pokémon in their natural habitats and see them interact with one another in real-time.

Unlike the original, which only focused on the first generation of Pokémon, it seems New Pokémon Snap will feature cameos of creatures from every mainline game, including Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Oddworld: Soulstorm

Following 2014’s Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, a remake of the original Abe’s Oddyssey, we have Oddworld: Soulstorm, a remake of the second entry in the series, Abe’s Exoddus.

In it, players reprise their role as Abe, a victim of slave labor who decides to lead a rebellion for his species (the Mudokons) against their evil overlords (the Glukkons).

The game will feature a new crafting system that allows Abe to make and customize various weapons using materials throughout the world.

Oddworld: Soulstorm will launch as a timed PS5 exclusive, later coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store.

Returnal

Dropping on April 30, Returnal is a roguelike experience with a triple-A budget. Famed developer Housemarque known for its work on Resogun and Alienation is bringing a sci-fi third-person bullet hell-style shooter. The concept is that the world constantly changes with each run with a heavy narrative focus laid around it, and thanks to its gameplay loop, the developer is claiming that Returnal will have "extreme replayability." We're looking forward to trying out this gorgeous PS5 exclusive towards the latter half of April. Houston, we don't have a problem...hopefully.

Nier Replicant Ver 1.22474487139...

The wacky plot involves a smart-ass book called Grimoire Weiss, a warrior named Kaine, and a cursed child Emil who go on an adventure to save the protagonist's sister from her illness. Like Automata, it takes twists and turns you won't see coming if you haven't played this cult classic before. Dubbed anime fans might be happy to know that Demon Slayer actor Zach Aguilar plays the protagonist's younger self and many veteran voice-over artists will be joining him too.A remake of arguably the better Nier game, Replicant is releasing on April 23 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Featuring an improved combat system, fully voiced lines, visual improvements, and a new brotherly version of the protagonist, Nier Replicant is likely going to be a great prequel experience to fans of Automata.

Hoa

Still scheduled to capture your hearts sometime in April 2021 for Steam and the Nintendo Switch, Hoa is a stunning 2D platformer seemingly inspired by the likes of Studio Ghibli and Japanese animation. Exploration puzzles are mainly what you'll be facing in this forest landscape, and it will be accompanied by a lighthearted storyline that will make you smile. It might be a great palette cleanser after a game like Outriders that is set in a violent world.

MLB The Show 21

One of America's favorite pastimes will be encapsulated in MLB The Show 21 on April 20, and for the first time ever, the series is hitting first base on Xbox platforms alongside the PS4 and PS5. However, if you get the deluxe edition, you'll be able to gain early access on April 16. Rest assured that if your friends are stuck on PS4, you can cross-play with them, and there's cross-progression too. As for the improvements for this year's version, CGM reports that there will be a new pitching and fielding experience alongside franchise updates.

Saga Frontier Remastered

Lastly is Saga Frontier Remastered, a reimagined version of the 1997 PlayStation classic. It has enhanced visuals and a new main character named Fuse. It also has an improved UI and a double-speed mode, making the grind of classical RPGs much easier to digest. There's also some new content and more tracks from Kenji Ito, the original composer of the game. The developer and publisher Square Enix also gone into the effort of adding several cutscenes from Asellus' perspective that weren't present in the original game. You can play this retelling of Saga Frontier on April 15 on the Nintendo Switch.

April 2021 is an exciting month as we near the typical drought of the summer season. We'll be exploring the strange lands of Nier Replicant, taking cute pictures of Pokemon, and encounter powerful foes in some third-person shooting goodness with Outriders.
